Denby Ceramic Candle Review

Denby are a brand I have always associated with crockery so I was quite surprised to discover that they also have a home fragrance range which includes candles and diffusers.  Their candles and diffusers are hand crafted in Derbyshire and feature Denby’s unique reactive glaze which is applied by hand which makes each piece unique.  All the candle and diffuser pots are made from locally sourced stoneware clay which gives them the characteristic Denby design that we all know and love.

The ceramic pots really are beautiful and as well as holding the candles which provide a lovely way to fragrance your home, they are also lovely products to have on display.

It is always a concern receiving pottery through the post, but the Denby ceramic candle was carefully packaged and arrived in perfect condition.  Opening the parcel I could smell the beautiful fragrance so I was really looking forward to having the candle in my living room to not only gently scent the room but to add a lovely relaxing ambience too.

The Kiln Green 220g candle is packaged in a cardboard gift box with a window at the front which enables you to see the candle.  The hand poured candle is in a gorgeous green glazed pot which is just shouting out to be reused, I think it will make a lovely trinket pot or you could even use it as a plant pot – I actually have a small orchid that will fit perfectly so once the candle has been burnt down I can pop the pot in the dishwasher (yes it’s dishwasher proof!) to clean it and then pop the orchid in the pot.  The candle is fragranced with Clary, Sage, Bergamot and Grapefruit and when I lit the candle the fragrance was absolutely sublime, scenting my living room beautifully.  The blend of clary, sage, bergamot and grapefruit is spot on and everyone who has visited since I received the candle has been really impressed with the beautiful fragrance.

I really love the scent of the candle and you can tell that this isn’t a synthetic wax with added fragrance as the natural wax burns a lot slower and the fragrance lingers long after the candle flame has been blown out.

It’s fair to say that at £40 this isn’t the cheapest candle on the market, but from experience you don’t get the same lingering scent from a cheaper brand, so if you take into account the fact that the pot can be reused I do feel it is definitely worth the money.

The candle I received was the Kiln Green candle but there are also a couple of other candles available – Blue Haze, Halo, Modus Ombre, Statements, Kiln Ceramics and Ombre so there will be one to suit any decor.  Standard delivery is £4.95 and orders over £50 with standard delivery are free.

So if you want a candle to create a welcoming feel in your hall or a relaxing ambience in your lounge the Denby ceramic candle tick both boxes, adding a luxurious feel to any home along with a beautiful fragrance.  With Christmas coming up it will also make a lovely gift for friends and family.
