Tonight’s show was a mixture of music, show producers and writers showcasing this year and the beginning of next year’s performances. They also spoke about their involvement with De Montfort University in Leicester and how they are helping to develop and shape talent of the future. They introduced their seasonal collaboration with De Montfort University, which this year is a modern take on Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. The students work on all aspects of this show using the skills of The Curves professionals to help them get the best from themselves. Pride and Prejudice is Showing 12-15 June. It sounds amazing, unfortunately I’m not here to see it.

They also spoke about how the Curve works closely in the community, taking theatre to schools, young people theatre groups, outreach projects around the city, and to older people who cannot necessarily attend the theatre. The Curve factors in socioeconomic factors enabling everyone the chance to enjoy what they have to offer. It was so nice to hear people talk so passionately about their craft and making it so accessible.

On to the seasons shows!! We were first given a song from A Chorus line, which is playing Fri 28 Jun-Sat 13 Jul. Then we were introduced to four brand new shows, the first being Pirates like underpants, an adaptation of the children’s book, a must if you have little children 2 Dec – 5 Jan 2025. The second show being The Fantastic Foxes, a community production about Leicester City Football Club, from the beginning to now 26 Jul – 3 Aug. The third show is Pride and Prejudice, and the fourth show is Mountaintop, a play based on the last evening of Dr Martin Luther King Jr before his assassination. Advertised as the man away from the stage 21 Sep – 5 Oct. This does sound like a brilliant piece of theatre and promises an amazing cast.

We also had an introduction to Super you, a play written about your inner superhero, and powerful women 22 Oct – 9 Nov. The musical score for this play is incredible, we were treated to a snippet, look for it on Tick Tock!! It’s been viral for a couple of years, especially in America. Keeping To the American theme the Curve is welcoming TINA, the Tina Turner story next year 6 Mar- 22 Mar 2025. This is a hugely acclaimed show, I’m sure it will be a complete sell out. To end the event we had a very special performance from Emma Williams singing “I would have danced” from My Fair Lady, which is set to be a full on, incredible production. I’ve purchased my tickets already, I can’t wait. My Fair Lady is showing from 23 Nov-4 Jan.

The Curve has a very busy season ahead, with so many fantastic shows through to next year, it would be hard not to find something you would like. There are plenty of other shows this year, from the main stage and the Studio theatre. Just go online, call or just pop in and have a look.

I love the Curve theatre, it’s modern, airy, and fully accessible. All of the staff are really friendly and helpful. There’s a bar should you fancy a tipple or coffee, and a bistro if you’re feeling a bit peckish before the show. Parking is easy. There is an NCP car park within a 5 min walk, or it is a 10 minute walk from the centre of town.

I would rate the Curve 5/5
