My kids love riding their bikes. We love going out riding as a family. But I’ve noticed a struggle starting to creep in recently with my 10-year-old around wearing his helmet. Wearing a bike helmet is a non-negotiable for me so when I started to dig further, it transpired that he felt they’re uncool and ‘none of his friends had to wear them’. Despite all my efforts to convince him, he wasn’t sold and would put it on begrudgingly whilst muttering things about how I don’t know what I’m talking about and I’m so uncool.
So, when I got the chance to review this Coolcasc Bike Helmet Cover I was interested to see his reaction. I chose the Comic Monsters design which I thought (hoped) looked quite cool and colourful with a monster design on a black background. It arrived with minimal packaging, which I was happy about – less waste. But more importantly, when I showed my son, the corners of his mouth curled up and he said ‘yeah that’s pretty cool’ (a runaway success for a 10-year-old). It was a stretchy material, which held the pattern well when stretched. The material is quite hardwearing and is machine -washable – a must for all children.
We put it eagerly on his helmet which took a total of a few seconds; the stretchy design meant it easily fitted on with minimal effort. It instantly transformed his previously very uncool helmet into one that looked new and edgy. It’s really eye-catching when on and my son was more than happy to wear it.
We had been previously looking at what he considered to be cool helmet designs in the hope that he would be more accepting of wearing it. However, the helmets that he chose were either really expensive or just not designed for bike riding. All helmets meet the minimum safety standards, so this is a great option; to be able to revamp a plain-looking helmet and reinvigorate their enthusiasm for wearing one. My son now proudly sets off to school wearing his COOLCASC Bike Helmet Cover, loving the looks he gets and has been asked more than a few times by his mates where he got it from.
The Coolcasc helmet cover can be purchased at https://coolcasc.co.uk/products/coolcasc-bike-helmet-cover-comic-monsters. The cover I had came from the printed bike helmet range where there are a variety of designs for adults as well as children. In addition, there are a lot of fun animal designs for different types of helmets that will appeal to a range of preferences. It’s also a great option for small children, so that you can spot them quite easily when out and about; in a busy park for example. The Comic Monster helmet cover retails at £16.95 which I think is a great price for this quality product. It’s eye-catching and would make a brilliant present for anyone; an adult or child. If you know someone who loves to bike ride or who may have all the accessories this Christmas, this is definitely a present with a difference. I’m giving this product a 5/5 for its uniqueness, quality and just the sheer idea of being able to revamp a ‘boring’ bike helmet so simply and easily. My 10-year-old approves!
