Last night I went with my family to see this years pantomime of Cinderella at the new Victoria Theatre in Woking. I’ve been very lucky to be able to take my family a few times over the years and this year’s pantomime did not disappoint. What a treat it was as always. This year‘s pantomime star is the hilarious comedian and actor Brian Conley who plays buttons. Brian is currently starring in EastEnders and has a wealth of experience in show business. I love the interaction he made with the kids and the silly toilet humour really went down well with my five year old. I’ve never seen him laugh so much. ,I’ve never seen Brian Conley perform before but I can’t remember the last time I laughed so much. It brought tears to my eyes. Another hilarious pair who I absolutely loved were Neal Wright and Ben stock who played the ugly stepsisters. They were fabulous with their extravagant costumes and louder than life personalities.
The show follows the story of Cinderella pretty much how we all know the story to go, following Cinderella on her adventures to the ball where she meets Prince Charming and not forgetting the fairy godmother who helps her get to the ball with her fairy magic.
The sets were amazing and so well done and as you expect there’s the moment that surprises you with the wow factor. There’s lots of sparkling confetti which looked amazing, lots of audience participation which everyone loves, lots of great singing fantastic dancing and a lovely festive five an atmosphere throughout. The show lasted about 2 1/2 hours with a 20 minute interval, with the chance to purchase drinks ice creams and snacks. The show seemed to fly by in no time at all. It was such a great night. We had brilliant seats In the stalls not far from the front and I definitely recommend this seating area as it had a brilliant view of the stage and felt very immersive with the confetti. As always the staff are lovely and everything ran smoothly and this is a great theatre to visit and a bonus to have parking so close and a cheap evening rate of £1.50 makes it a very easy visit.
Rating: We’ve now made it a Christmas tradition to see the pantomime and it’s always enjoy the much looked forward to. As always a 5/5
