My friend and I took our children to the soft play area in Urmston called Cheeky Cherubs. My daughter was 4 and my friend’s daughter is 5 and her son is 14 months old.
We went on a Sunday over the Christmas period. We arrived about 10:30am.
When we walked into the main entrance we were met by the staff on the reception desk who were very friendly and welcoming. Firstly we were asked to sign in. Then a member of staff let us through the gates to the play area. Although it was a cold day the play centre had a heater on which made it nice and warm. The children were very excited and ran with confidence to the soft play equipment. We sat down at a table which we found straight away. This was conveniently placed near the soft play area and in the middle of the other areas. It was great as my friend and I could see the children at all times and made us feel happy and relaxed. On the tables there were personalised Cheeky Cherubs wipes which I think was a nice touch and certainly encouraged people to keep the tables and their children clean.
Cheeky Cherubs had a lot to offer all 3 of the children. It was colourful, big and spacious. I liked the separate play areas for the 0-4 year olds and 4+. The equipment was suitable for the different age groups and was clean. There was a clear notice which recommends the age groups of the children. It was obvious that our children felt relaxed, confident and comfortable whilst exploring. They particularly enjoyed the slides in both areas.
After a while the children came back to the table and had some juice which we purchased from the lovely cafe area. Staff were very friendly and the menu seemed reasonably priced. I purchased hot chocolate (with marshmallows and cream) which was delicious as well as a bacon barm. After about an hour we purchased the children some lunch. The children enjoyed their lunch which again was reasonably priced and came in good time after being ordered. Staff bought the food to us when it was ready and they came and cleared the table when we had finished. The 14 month old sat in a high chair.
We went to the toilets which were clean and spacious. They had two separate cubicles for children with a sink inside rather than a separate room for girls toilets and boys toilets. There was also a baby changing area too.
The children enjoyed what Cheeky Cherubs had to offer. The girls (age 4 & 5) loved the sensory room and independently liked to explore what it had to offer. The sensory room had calm music and a lovely background drop across the wall. They also loved to explore the role play area which consisted of a kitchen and prams etc. The 14 month boy also loved this area.
Although the play area has an ICT suite to offer the children did not explore this. I think this is a great idea, especially for older children.
There was also an area for children to ride on cars etc… and chalk on the walls.
I think Cheeky Cherubs is good value for money. Adults and under 1 year olds are FREE, which is not the case for all play areas. I have had to pay for myself in the past when attending other play areas in Trafford. 1-2 year olds are £3 and above 2 years is £4.50. They also offer party packages too starting from £10 per child.
There is also a range of shops in the entrance of the soft play centre which offers a range of pre-loved children’s clothes, jewellery and toys.
It’s definitely worth taking a look around whilst you are there. Although I didn’t by anything (as it was just after Christmas) I may purchase something in the future.
All in all I would highly recommend Cheeky Cherubs in Urmston. The staff and environment are warm and friendly, the food is homemade and reasonably priced and the equipment/areas are clean and appropriate for different ages and abilities.
I will definitely be attending again… soon!
