I never buy school shoes until the end of August to ensure that my son gets the maximum amount of wear out of them and doesn’t grow out of them before school starts! I was just thinking about taking him shopping when I was asked to review a pair of Chatham Children’s Anchor Boat shoes. The timing was perfect and he was thrilled because it meant he didn’t need to go shopping.
I have to admit that Chatham is not a brand I am familiar with but having looked on their website they have a good range of shoes for both children and adults. The website is easy to use with good sized pictures so that you can see the shoes clearly before you buy. Both the UK and EU sizes are displayed so there is no need to find a conversion chart to work out which size you need.
The shoes arrived quickly and when I opened the box they were wrapped in tissue paper inside the box. There was also tissue paper in the toes which meant that they kept their shape whilst in transit. I was really impressed with the quality of the shoes when I took them out of the box they looked very smart with a good sturdy sole. The Velcro strap means it is easy for my son to get them on and off and the strap isn’t too wide so that you see more strap than shoe. The Velcro is strong which is always important with school shoes. I especially liked the ribbon around the inside of the shoe, the coloured flags looked great and are a nice feature.
Luke is a size 3 and these shoes fitted perfectly, there is a little growing room and they are a good fit on the top of his feet. He has been wearing them for school and he said they are very comfortable to wear and easy to run in, which is important for when he is playing football at playtime. Whilst he has only been wearing them for a few days they are coping well with both football and the usual school wear and tear and clean up well after being covered in mud.
The shoes cost £39.00 and there is a choice of three colours, black, brown and navy. I am really pleased with them up to now and would certainly recommend them. It is nice to support a British company and I will be looking at the women’s shoes next as they have some great styles on their website.
