I love all things personalised and all things Christmas so a personalised snow globe is right up my street. I loved choosing a festive family photo and the CEWE website offers an easy way of uploading this to your design. Either this can be done online directly or the software can be downloaded. I chose to do it online using my phone and found it very easy to navigate, find and upload my chosen photograph. The whole process was very simple, with the options to add a photograph or text if required. Whilst I chose to keep it simple and just use a favourite photograph I had a browse of the other options available. There appears to be a fair range of different coloured backgrounds and then clipart style images or text based quotes that you can use. Free text options can also be personalised in regards to font, size, colour and positioning. You can then choose from either snow or heart confetti (a very tempting option for valentines day!). A preview section then enables you to get an idea of how your finished product will look before purchasing.
The order arrived quickly and the snow globe is as advertised and seen in your preview and measures 8x9cm. It is made from acrylic and hard toughened plastic rather than glass (making it therefore a lot cheaper than many snow globes) and you can tell this as it looks more robust than many but also doesn’t have the delicateness of glass. For me it is an advantage as my children love playing with snow globes and whilst it is not designed as a toy, I like that it can be held and shaken by them without so much worry about breakage or injury. The photograph you choose is on both sides (measuring 6.8 by 6.4 cm) and the globe itself sits on a small transparent dish like stand which it can be removed from. The photograph is of a good quality, as you would expect from a photo printing company. When shaken the artificial snowflakes and glitter swirl and fall beautifully, much like a light flurry of snow making it look magical and festive. The design is simple and yet effective and I think the price is fair and reflective of this.
The photograph and central section can actually be removed, which I guess in theory means you could change and replace the photograph. However I think I would have preferred this to have been sealed closed for a higher spec look for the item and the limited likelihood I would print and cut another photo to size myself in order to do this.
The versatility of the personalised snow globe means that the perfect gift can be created for your partner or any family member, friend, or even as a teacher or secret Santa gift idea. For those that you don’t know so well, instead of a photograph the text option can be used instead with a message or relevant quote perhaps. Having had a browse of the CEWE website there is an extensive range of photographic based gifts, photo books, cards and calendars in addition to the usual photograph printing service.
Delivery is advertised to tale 7 to 9 working days and delivery charges vary on items but is £2.45 for the snow globe only.
