Case Logic Ibira Backpack Review

Reviewed by Laura Reynolds-Talbot

The backpack I reviewed was the Case Logic Ibira, designed to accommodate up to a 15.6” laptop and a 10.1” tablet. First impressions were that the bag is of high quality, especially for the relative low retail price, and the 25 year warranty assured this perception.

The Ibira is neat in appearance and not at all bulky. Once loaded up with everything from my existing laptop bag (12” laptop, notebook, stationary, water bottle, umbrella), it was instantly obvious that the design of the Ibira allows for optimum weight distribution; the contents felt somehow lighter. This was helped by the low standalone weight of the backpack – at 0.52kg, it’s extremely light.

The colour reviewed was ‘pepper’ – a green colour, and is quite bright and appealing to the eye. The Ibira is also available in black with an orange trim or grey with a lime green trim, which also looks great.

The fastenings on the bag are zip openings and are easy to open and close – the quality of the zips make them smooth to do up.

The Ibira has enough compartments to contain all your contents in their own individual place – a main compartment for laptop, a secondary pocket for a tablet and an additional two compartments for phones/notebooks/camera etc… There is also an external pocket on the front for quick access to loose items and a concealed pocket in the rear of the backpack for valuables. At either side of the Ibira are mesh pockets suitable for drinks bottles, umbrellas etc…

The design of the compartments meant that even with a small laptop in (12”), it was held securely in place and didn’t move around, and the same for items in other compartments. I had every confidence that my technology was well protected in the Ibira.

The padded straps on the backpack make the Ibira extremely comfortable to carry and the positioning of the straps and bag mean that it is carried close to the body, eliminating any friction or bashing about when walking.

The only downside of the bag is that the water bottle and umbrella fell out of external mesh side pockets when the bag was set down. It might be that they were not the right size for what I’d put in; other sized bottles may be better suited.

Overall, an excellent functional, attractive, well designed and cost effective backpack to carry your technology and other bits around in. Given the quality of this product, and the 25 year guarantee it comes with, I see me using the Ibira for a long time to come.

I would highly recommend the Case Logic Ibira.
