When you think of experience gifting, sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. There are so many companies and so many offers – not to mention so many experiences – it can be a little overwhelming.
Enter Buyagift.
I have to say their buying and booking experience is second to none.
From the moment you click on their site, the user journey is seamless. Upcoming holidays and celebrations are instantly recognised – at this time of year, Mother’s Day takes precedent at the top of the page – and they have super clear categories split up in the menu, and across the homepage. This means you can select a present in various ways including by filtering who you’re buying for, by the experience type, by category, by brand and even by price.
As an added bonus, if you’re buying for someone who is incredibly fussy, one of the best things about a Buyagift voucher is that if you buy a gift experience for someone, and they don’t feel it’s quite “them”, or they won’t be able to use it within the timeframe, the giftee can actually exchange, upgrade or extend the voucher – which is definitely unique when it comes to voucher companies!
Once you select your experience and go through the buying process, you can choose to post or email the voucher with a personalised message which is a lovely touch.
Having received a voucher for afternoon tea at Harrods tea rooms for the purpose of this review, I can honestly say that the booking process was also super simple. By clicking on the “Got a voucher?” button at the top right-hand side of their homepage, you can easily enter the voucher details sent to you which pulls up the booking details. It’s so easy, that even someone who isn’t the most tech-savvy should easily be able to review their details. From there, you follow the booking instructions, which in my case was calling the number to arrange a date, and boom! You’re all set to enjoy your experience.
A Buyagift experience would be up there on most gift lists. With experiences like spa breaks, race days and cookery classes, the possibilities are endless!
With Mother’s Day coming up, why not treat the ‘mum’ in your life? This could be the ideal celebratory gift for your special someone – or why not make a day of it and buy a gift experience and share it with them so you get to enjoy it too!
Rating: 5 stars (5/5)

Update about how the review visit went….
In terms of the experience itself, the Harrods Tea Rooms Afternoon Tea was fabulous. The tea room is located on the 4th floor, close to the champagne bar. The large, traditional tea room is adorned with beautiful pastel moulding, white, crisp table linen and plush private couches, complete with a grand piano (and pianist tinkling away) off to the side. It all felt incredibly opulent!
The luxurious afternoon tea offering included a delicious selection of finger sandwiches made up of smoked salmon, cucumber, egg and truffle mayonnaise, coronation chicken and salt beef. The deserts were perfect double-mouthfuls of lemon lime meringue tart, a praline sphere (which tasted like a Ferrero Rocher), a chocolate and salted caramel delice and a rhubarb and ginger slice, all of which were absolutely divine! There was also an extensive list of exotic teas to accompany the treats, including the classics such as English breakfast and Early Grey, and even more adventurous black teas (although some did note they came with a supplemental charge).
We also topped off our afternoon tea with a glass of Harrods champagne – an added extra – to celebrate our experience, which I’d highly recommend, especially if you’re treating mum.
While the service was excellent – all details from the gorgeous silver tea pots and strainer, to the care and attention of the placement of the food – the only thing to note was that the service charge didn’t seem to be included in the voucher, which was a little bit of a surprise when we asked for the bill. This is just something to keep in mind if you’re trying to stick to your voucher budget.
