Burlesque! arrived at The Lowry this weekend and myself and partner were lucky enough to be there for a fantastic night of titillation and frolics.

Staged in The Quays Theatre with the auditorium set up in the manner of a nightclub with tables and subtle lighting it is a very good idea. If you are sat in the main seating areas glasses and bottles are allowed. We were sat on the first tier so could only take plastic glasses in though. We had a brilliant view of the stage from our seats.

Lesbian Vampire Queen Rosie Lugosi was the compare for the evening and she worked the audience throughout while keeping the show flowing with her banter. She had most (mainly the men) eating out of her hand by the interval with everybody shouting Yes Mistress, No Mistress when prompted to do so.

There are a variety of acts mainly singing and dancing and a lot of nudity, so this might not be the show for everybody. The sexy, sassy dancers twerk their bare bottoms and tasselled nipples and are very good at what they do.

Costumes are bold and bright. There is no stage set – they really don’t need one as your transfixed on the performers anyway!

A marvellous evening watching talented entertainers and sprinkled with smut and humour.

Like I have already mentioned at times it was a little risqué but I guess you would know this before booking.

We are already looking forward to the next time it visits The Lowry.
