I was asked to review own brand 4 culinary oil sprays from supermarket giant Tesco. I received Tesco Pure Sunflower Oil Spray, Tesco Pure Rapeseed Oil Spray, Tesco Olive Oil Spray and Tesco Extra Virgin Olive Oil Spray.

Tesco Pure Sunflower Oil Spray: very light no discernible taste to taint the food you are cooking.

Tesco Pure Rapeseed Oil Spray: nothing to choose between this and the Sunflower oil.

Tesco Olive Oil Spray: rather stronger tasting, not particularly pleasant, it is composed of refined olive oils and virgin olive oil.

Tesco Extra Virgin Olive Oil Spray: this was much nicer than the one above and had a true olive oil taste.

All the oils contain 2 calories per spray, I found I needed 3 sprays to fry an egg. Using these sprays will certainly cut down on my fat intake as each spray contains only 0.2g of fat.

I personally would use the Sunflower or Rapeseed oil interchangeably for frying where I did not wish any taste of the oil to be imparted to the dish. I would not use the Olive oil spray, I did not like the taste, however, I would use the Extra Virgin Olive Oil Spray as I did like the taste of this. I use Olive Oil a lot in my cooking and this spray will help me cut down the amount I use.

Easy to use, come in 200 ml plastic spray bottles ranging in price from £1.50 to £1.65.
