The items were well packaged and delivered in good time. I had two dolls out of the 7 Rainbow High dolls to review. Rainbow High Fantastic fashion Doll – Jade Hunter and Rainbow High fantastic fashion doll – Ruby Anderson. Both were beautifully packaged in bright shiny colour coordinating boxes. It was easy to see that the items were good quality. The way they are laid out within the box means that it’s easy to see the product you’re buying and makes it very eye caching for children. My 6-year-old daughter actually gasped when I showed her the dolls, she was very excited. This is always the reaction I’m after when giving gifts.

Upon opening the box, it was a bit of a faff to remove the doll. She had so many ties and clips on her holding her in place that I ended up finding some scissors to cut her out. Even after cutting as close to the head as I could you could still feel a spike from one of the tags in the back of the dolls head that my daughter says is annoying. The dolls hair was very stiff where it is gelled in place to look nice in the box so before you can place with it you need to rinse this out. I found this quite annoying but tried to make it fun for my daughter saying she had to go to the hair salon after a long sleep in the box. Once the gel was out the hair is easily combable.

Each doll came with several outfits one catwalk outfit and one casual. The designs are a bit wacky and unconventional, but this my daughter loved. The attention to detail within the outfits is wonderful, from tiny little rhinestones and zips to lace up boots and fancy earrings. However, although the outfits are wonderfully well made and nice to look at they are very fiddly to get on the doll. The bendable joints on the doll especially the wrists made it nearly impossible to change the jacket for me let alone my 6 year old daughter. I actually ended up pulling her hand off just to be able to get her hand in it and then reattaching the hand after she was re dressed. The same for putting shoes on and off the bendable ankle means its very tricky to re put shoes on once they have come off. That being said these dolls have been played with for hours by my daughter and she especially loves the hair. The dolls also come with a pretend sketch pad and pen for extra ways to spark the children’s imaginations, along with a stand for the doll once the are finished being played with so they can be stored or displayed neatly.

The dolls are also part of a TV series which adds extra excitement for children because they can see their dolls on the tv and play alongside watching. There are 7 dolls in total to collect.

In summary there are two main things I found frustrating about the toy which is why it lost a star from me. One the way they are packaged made it difficult to remove from the box and tags from the head, and two the fact that the bendable joints although fun for playing actually make it really hard to redress the dolls. However there are many good qualities about the dolls, it is well made and durable. The clothes are fun for children and help spark their imaginations about what creations they could maybe style it in next. They can watch the dolls play out in a tv show and play along side giving them ideas for storylines. I found the dolls to be reasonably priced and are similar value to other products on the market. When asking my daughter would she recommend people buy this product for their children the answer was a resounding yes.
