Little Tikes Springlings Surprise Review

Blind bags and surprise toys are mega at the moment, and we have more of them in our house than I can count, and the kids love collecting their teeny tiny little friends, and the element of surprise that comes with opening the packaging and seeing which character will be added to the collection. And as much as they love opening their own surprises, it seems like most kids will enjoy watching other kids opening these things on ‘unboxing’ videos on YouTube just as much!
Up until now, these blind bag toys have pretty much been for kids aged over 5 – some of them are incredibly small and are a definite choking hazard for younger children, as well as the fact that tiny hands prefer slightly bigger toys. Well, finally, there are blind toys available for younger children!
Springlings Surprise are suitable for kids aged 2+, and contain cute, collectable soft toys which literally spring out of their little homes at the touch of a button! There are 12 to collect, and each one comes in its own little house, rather like a jack-in-the-box, and once you have released your new friend once, it can be stuffed back in and used again and again.

The packaging is lovely, and features bright and friendly images of some of the collectable characters in the range. After peeling off the plastic, you find out which of the houses you have won – there is a choice of four: green, pink, orange and blue, and they all have cute housey details moulded into the house – windows, flowers, butterflies and a picket fence, plus the all-important button for springing them open!
Before you pop them open though, it’s great fun to try and guess which one you’ve got, just like when you see the pressies under the tree in the lead up to Christmas! This is great fun, because the top of the Springlings’ homes have a little letterbox, where you can see their sparking eyes and a small amount of their coloured fur! We had great fun comparing the three that we were sent for review to the pictures on the side of the pots trying to guess which ones we had, before pressing the buttons to check if our guess was right!

When you do decide to spring the lid open, your new fluffy little friend does literally spring out; it’s great fun to watch and toddlers and young children will think it’s hilarious and will want to do it again and again! The toys themselves are lovely, and have a thick, coil spring inside them to allow them to bounce out of their house. We ‘won’ Go-Go Rainbow (we think he’s a rainbow hamster), Fetching Rascal (a purple-eyed dog) and Tabby Pounce (a surprisingly spotty pink and orange cat). I think that both the toys and the houses will continue to have good play-value, and everything feels well-made and constructed, as you would expect with Little Tikes stuff.
I think it’s super that younger kids now have something like this that they can collect, and at £8.99, they are about the right price for taking along to classmate’s birthday party as a gift, or as a little treat for during the school holidays.
