Bank Holiday Advice from Garmin

Trust Garmin to offer expert advice on avoiding the traffic this bank holiday

This May bank holiday the roads will undoubtedly be busy with drivers keen to enjoy the long weekend and escape the hubbub of everyday life.

Anthony Chmarny from Garmin, the global leader in satellite navigation, provides his expert advice on ensuring you have a safe, smooth and enjoyable journey:

“No matter how wonderful bank holidays are, they now come with the added image of sitting in traffic, busy roads and precious time wasted while we look for quick routes to escape the crowds.

“I recommend anyone hitting the roads this bank holiday to plan ahead.  Think about the routes that attract the most crowds and try to avoid them by doing some research before you leave.

“Check out the weather, rain and strong winds can make any journey more difficult, so allow  more time, keep your speed down and ensure your vehicle is in tip top condition.

“Importantly, don’t get stressed in traffic.  If you have a Sat-Nav you can easily look for alternative routes to travel as you’ve got a trust worthy source that will lead you to your destination.”

This advice is of course not only relevant for this bank holiday but for the bank holidays coming up in June to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.

Anthony adds: “We all want to make the most of our precious time off and not spend it sitting in cars, battling with the traffic.  By careful planning and ensuring you have a trust worthy sat-nav at your side, you can beat the crowds and find a quick route to use.”

Garmin’s range of state-of-the-art Satellite Navigation systems have 3D Live Traffic technology that provides you with the best all-round view of the traffic situation at any given moment – an essential for anyone embarking on a road trip over the summer months.  Route information is checked every 30 seconds and updated every 2 minutes, meaning that you are able to find out about incidents as they happen and take action to avoid them.

This week Garmin announced that it has sold more than 100 million of its products to motorists, pilots, boaters, runners, cyclists, golfers, hikers and geocachers – who all depend on Garmin to help show them the way.
