Schools out for the summer, this can only mean one thing if you have children or grandchildren like me, NEW school shoes needed!

Our children are long grown up but this September we will have four grandchildren all of school age. Even at my age I have had to budget for some months for this, the eldest at age 13 years is a whopping size 9.5, adult sizes mean adult prices! School shoes of any quality do not come cheaply; is there a saying buy cheap buy twice?

I was beyond delighted to read of Deichmann’s school shoes and trainers offer, buy one get one half price. This offer is running from the 21st July to the 7th September. We have a large store in our town, which makes it easy to bring the children in to be measured and browse from the many many styles available. I was quite taken aback at the wealth of high street brands included in this offer, Kickers, Hush Puppies, Skechers, Nike, the list goes on and on.

For those parents and grandparents like us, who are working and sometimes find shoe fittings a traumatic experience (hands up who has just given up and left the stores with nothing!) if you go to the Deichmann website there is a whole section on how to measure kids feet at home, it’s a step by step guide, which we found extremely easy to follow. There is also a wealth of helpful hints around your child’s shoes. Having measured up, we ordered for our four year old grandson, the kickers are reasonably priced at £39.99 for his size.

They are great sturdy shoe, which have Velcro fastenings for ease. We think they will stand the test of time when he starts school for his age and be easy enough for him to be able to put his own shoes on. Our granddaughter is five and luckily a girlie girl, so I was delighted when she said she loved the Kicker black patent ballet flats, also priced at £39.99. Having had three boys and only one girl, girl school shoes are my favourite, but once they get to a certain age they no longer want what we parents would think of as classic patent shoes, oh no, they go all trendy. These shoes are gorgeous with a love heart stitched on the front of the shoe. Also sturdy, I think they will be a great shoe for her in September.

Being able to save £20 between two pairs of essential items is an amazing saving, a huge help when you have more than one child going back to school, although even if you only have one, you can get shoes and PE trainers with this great offer of buy one get one half price.

I am really impressed with the amount of styles to choose from at Deichmann’s, with two grandchildren aged four, a five year old and a thirteen year old it really is a one stop shop, which makes my life easier when helping their parents out by buying schools shoes. Especially the brands stocked, teenagers won’t wear anything without a brand name.

We are delighted with the shoes, the service and especially the saving!
