Mascara is my top make-up item that I cannot live without; I have tried countless and wasted money on so many that I am always a little reluctant to deviate from my current favourite.

The Artistry Studio Lash Boosting 3-in-1 mascara comes with the endorsement of Best New Eye Product in the Pure Beauty Awards 2019 which makes it particularly appealing, and absolutely worth a try.

The packaging is pretty unique with the contrast of the white against the arty colourful eye section; I just hope the very clumpy mascara on the illustrated eye isn’t an indicator of what’s ahead! I jest, as it really looks fabulous, professional and high-end. According to the website the product is inspired by New York City and this is apparent in the cool design.

The mascara bottle itself is a black and white reflection of the boxed packaging and is a nice slim tube. When I first looked at the wand, I did think the brush was very long but went ahead and used it without issue.

It was only later than I noticed the really cool feature of this mascara; you can change the brush length and therefore the gap between bristles by twisting the tip of the lid to customise your lashes. Thank goodness for their website as there is no guidance within the packaging on how best to use this feature, or even that it exists other than a small graphic on the lid which is a shame. I know for a fact a number of my friends could have missed that without their glasses on!

The trick is to use the elongated position to volumize, the shorter length to lift and curl and the Mohawk side of the brush to separate.

It only takes a bit of trial and error to work this out and achieve the best look but I do like a bit of product advice when it comes to fancy features so that you can get the best from the product instantly. Perhaps if I had ordered this directly online myself, I would have noticed in the product information, as it is a key selling point.

When you remove the wand from the bottle there is a fair amount of resistance which helps prevent clumping before using the product. I hate using a mascara wand that is full of clumps that need to be wiped away.

The 3-in-1 marketing idea claims to volumize, separate and lift lashes. I purposely didn’t use an eye-lash curler and can 100% agree that my lashes had an amazing curl from all angles. The Gotham black shade was perfect and did not smudge or flake after 14 hours wear, and in fact it still looked fresh by the end of the day.

When applying the mascara there was an instant boost in length and volume and the lashes really did separate well; in fact I managed to achieve the look I wanted in slightly less time than it would usually take me (I do like to faff around a bit so that my lashes look just right).

However, I do tend to wear a lot of mascara and apply perhaps a heavier mascara look than most people. As I applied an extra coat, I did find that there was a small amount of clumping albeit minimal. This did separate out with the mohawk side of the brush and a quick flick with an eyelash comb, so it isn’t a huge issue.

I did ask my very observant 8-year-old if my lashes looked any different and her words were “What have you done? Why do they look longer?” you really cannot argue with a smart 8-year-old!

From my perspective, my lashes were thicker and better separated, as well as having the amazing length.

This is a fantastic Valentine’s gift idea; if your lady likes her make-up then purchasing an award-winning mascara that is better than your usual high-street brands will score huge brownie points. Far more thoughtful than a box of supermarket chocolates.

In fact, Amway produce a range of beauty products which all look amazing.

However, if you don’t use the product as intended with the different brush lengths and sides, you won’t get the maximum from it (as I learned the hard way). It doesn’t take any longer to do it, it’s just about getting into the routine.

The price point of £28.10 for 7ml is reasonable for a high end product, particularly with such a cool brush head. If you don’t mind paying a bit extra to get a more perfected, professional look then this is absolutely worth a try. I would score this product 5 stars out of 5; the clumping was so minimal and easily rectified that I cannot justify scoring it lower when I achieved such an amazing look.
