Aquabeads Mega Bead Trunk Review

We love a craft set in our house, I especially love one that doesn’t make too much mess, so Aquabeads are a great option all round for this and for us all, I have three children (9, 7 & 5) and they all love these sets.

The Aquabeads Mega Bead Trunk is a refill set for other Aquabeads sets you may have, it doesn’t include the making tray or templates, but does include all of the beads you could need for lots and lots of projects.
The trunk is a good size cube, with plenty of storage room inside. The outside packaging is cardboard with images of what is included inside, most of all 3000 beads – I did say enough to last a while and quite a few projects!
The beads inside the box are wrapped in individual plastic bags so that they don’t mix and you can see exactly what you have and what you may need. There are 30 different types of beads, including solid colours and stars, in lots of different colours and shades. This set isn’t useable on its own as you will need a flip tray and also a sprayer to make your colourful beady creations.  Also included in the trunk are design pegs so that you can display your creations on the outside of your trunk or carry case.

The great but also slightly annoying thing about these beads is that they do break (come apart) fairly easily, but when they do they are easily fixable with a bit of time and a spray of water, and if you don’t like your design anymore you could also wet it, take the beads apart and dry them individually to make something new if you wanted.

When we have been making our bead designs, we have had a quick google to see what others have also made, we have ended up with cars, dinosaurs, sweets, ice creams, flowers, even a sea scape with godzilla spikes coming out of the water in 3-D, what ever you can imagine it seems is doable, you just need to get creative and imaginative and have a lot of patience too.

All three of my children have loved making various designs with these beads, their friends have also loved them and my little ones have really loved the fact that they can make a design and gift it to a friend. They can make something on a theme that they know their friends like and they then have a personal and very thoughtful gift that is also inexpensive.

This kit is perfect for extending your initial collection and adding to your bank of colours and bead styles. It would be great bought as a gift for someone that already has the beginner kit or in conjunction with a starter kit. They provide hours of fun and enjoyment and are a very calming activity. They promote creativity, imagination and also it is something that they can sit and do on their own with minimal help. It really is a great rainy day activity and something that can be done to get away from screen time, my small people don’t even think about screens when they are getting crafty so this is a significant bonus for us.
