We recently had the opportunity to try Am I a Dirtbag? The Game of Changing Opinions, and it was a hit with our family! This fun, fast-paced game is ideal for ages 14 and up and provides plenty of laughs and conversation starters. It’s simple yet entertaining, making it perfect for families looking for a fresh and engaging game night experience.

The premise of the game is straightforward: each player draws a card with a dilemma on it, and everyone must decide who they think is the “dirtbag” in the situation. The scenarios range from funny to thought-provoking, offering plenty of moments for lively debates. What really sets this game apart is how it encourages players to think about their opinions and how they shift depending on the person. For instance, what one person might think is a “dirtbag” move, another player may see it as completely acceptable. This led to some amusing discussions, especially between our children and us, the parents.

One of the standout features of Am I a Dirtbag? is how it appeals to players of different ages. While the game is designed for those aged 14 and up, our younger children (10 and 12) quickly caught on and joined in with ease. It was interesting to see how their perspectives on what constitutes a “dirtbag” move differed from the adults’. It sparked some engaging conversations and gave us a glimpse into how values and opinions shift between generations.

The game’s simplicity is another huge plus. It’s easy to set up and play, meaning it doesn’t drag on, and everyone can stay engaged. The game moves quickly, with each round allowing for everyone to weigh in. This is particularly great for keeping the attention of our neurodiverse children, who can sometimes struggle with longer or more complex games. We were pleasantly surprised at how long they wanted to keep playing—it was so engaging that we ended up playing for hours!

Another great thing about Am I a Dirtbag? is how it uses modern language and scenarios that resonate with today’s youth. The questions are current, making the game feel fresh and relatable. Our teens especially enjoyed this aspect, noting that it felt “relevant” and not “cringe,” which was a huge compliment in our house! It’s a refreshing change from older board games that often don’t capture the attention of younger players.

The “Grab Bag” element, where players grab a card from a paper bag, is another unique feature. While some of us were concerned that the bag might tear with all the grabbing, it held up well and kept the game’s pace lively. Despite some hesitation at first, the grab bag added an element of surprise that kept everyone moving and engaged.

In conclusion, Am I a Dirtbag? is a fantastic game for families looking to bond, have fun, and challenge their opinions. It’s easy to play, endlessly entertaining, and offers a modern twist on traditional family games. Whether you’re with teens or younger children, it’s guaranteed to keep everyone laughing and engaged for hours. It’s especially perfect for holiday gatherings when you want something that everyone can enjoy together.
