I was lucky enough to receive a large bundle of ACE cleaning products to test recently, and was quite surprised about how much I got! There were 5 items included, and each of them does something a little different in the cleaning world. We are a family of four and always seem to have the washing machine on, or need to wipe the kitchen sides, or the bathroom, so these were absolutely ideal for us to try out.

In my 100% recyclable product bundle, I received:

  • ACE for Colours
  • ACE Colours Powder
  • ACE for Whites
  • ACE Power Mousse
  • ACE Stain Remover

First up, ACE for Colours liquid. This is a gentle bleach stain remover which comes in a dumpy bottle containing 550ml. It’s blue so you can distinguish it quickly from the ACE for whites! I had a load to put on which contained various clothes. I’ve used ACE before but not for some time so I have to admit I was a little nervous putting something that said it was bleach in with a coloured load however when I opened the bottle a lovely floral fragrance wafted out, with very little hint of bleach. You tip a lid-full onto the top of the load in the drum rather than putting it in the drawer, then put your wash onto a normal cycle. You can use it to pre-treat stains too, or to handwash, although we didn’t try that out. When my washing was done it really smelled good! The product says it cleans hygienically and removes odours, and that seems to certainly be true. My smelly kids’ clothes went through that load and came out smelling good!

Next, ACE for Whites. This is very definitely a bleach product which you can smell as soon as you open the bottle which is tall and white, containing 1L of liquid. It says it offers up triple protection for extra care on clothes and that it removes stains and whitens clothes. As it happens, I was thinking about throwing out a load of the kids’ old school shirts as they looked like they’d seen better days but instead thought I’d chuck them in the wash with this product. You have to put it in the pre-wash compartment and run a pre-wash for the cycle. This was my main difficulty as my whites cycle doesn’t allow a pre-wash for some reason! I made do with a different cycle that I made as hot as possible, then let it run. Whilst the shirts didn’t come out dazzling, they certainly were whiter which I was quite impressed with.

ACE for Colours Powder – this is a 450g box of powder that you use in addition to your normal detergent, and is for whites and colours. It says that it removes odours and stains, even at 30°. The box has a little pouring spout so it’s easy to get out, but it does say you should pour it into the drawer whilst the water is running. Unfortunately for me that’s not possible due to access to the machine, so I just tried adding it to the drawer before the cycle started anyway. It gave me an excuse to make my daughter wash her school blazer, and even she grudgingly admitted afterwards that it was lovely and clean. Everything came out smelling fresh and there didn’t seem to be any problems in putting the power in the drawer in advance.

ACE Stain Remover Spray – this is a multipurpose spray that can be used as a laundry pre-wash, or on surfaces. It has a fresh floral fragrance and really makes everything smell lovely when you use it. It’s effective at getting stains off, such as tea rings, as it has active oxygen in it which lifts the stains. I’m now regularly using this spray in my kitchen and bathroom!

ACE Power Mousse Spray is a bleach and degreaser which “hygienises” (ACE’s word!), degreases and removes stains, which it says is for household surfaces and white laundry. It says it has a floral scent however to me it did smell very much like bleach and not very floral. The spray directs a spurt of foam wherever you aim it, however I found that it wasn’t a very wide spray, so you had to spray a few times onto kitchen sides then wipe it over. If you sprayed enough to cover a kitchen side then you would have far too much mousse on there. It is however effective at cleaning and with that distinctive smell, you do get additional reassurance of the hygiene. It’s pretty effective at lifting food from hob tops too, which is great.

Whilst I haven’t tried each product for their full range of purposes, I’ve tested each one out and was pleased with the results. These would be excellent products to purchase when you’re thinking of spring cleaning as the fresh scents will really give you that clean feeling and smell in your home.

Great products – 5 out of 5 stars
