Last night myself and my son visited the Palace Theatre in Manchester to see the circus. Approaching the theatre, you can’t miss the red sign where the hotel next to the theatre by the same name is shining brightly, there was also an NCP car park within walking distance to the theatre. Which I thought would be expensive but thought was reasonable at £6.50 for more than 2 hours.
The ladies in the ticket office were all really helpful and very polite when collecting our tickets and were also handa brochure to my son and parted with “enjoy the show”. When we entered the theatre there were members of staff on the doors and we when in the foyer we were looking at our tickets but couldn’t find where we were seated. There were plenty of staff members and thought when we looked that we were struggling that someone would approach us, but they all stood there watching us!! We then took ourselves to our seats when we found the signs for the stalls.
When looking around the theatre, the atmosphere and clientele of the audience was families and younger children. The theatre itself was clean and tidy with easily signposted toilets and bar.
The show started promptly at 7.30pm. We weren’t really sure what to expect only when reading on the shows poster that it was a show of circus tricks with a difference. “A circus that fits in a theatre”.
The show started with some acrobats who were amazing and throughout the music was loud and exciting and we were curious as to what acts were coming on next. But throughout the first half before the interval there were so many different exciting acts the children (and adults) had no reason to get bored!!
From acrobats, to limboing under fire, to a clown (who I thought was really funny and normally am not a fan of clowns) dancers and motorbikes riding a sphere!! Crazy but so exciting!!
There was a short interval after an hour and the second half was as exciting as the first. Lots more entertaining for the audience with such exciting music to accompany! Ladies swinging from the ceiling, more crazy motorbikers in the sphere, sword throwing, acrobats and much much more!!
My overall rating I would say was a 5 out of 5. I think because the amount of acts that were continuously coming on the time flew by and can’t believe when it finished as we didn’t want it to end.
I would definitely recommend this show, when I asked my son to describe in his words what he thought of the show, he said “mind blowing!” Thoroughly entertaining and an excellent evening out!!
Tickets cost from £16.90 to £28.40 (plus £2.85 transaction fee).
