BuddyPhones Volume-Safe Kids Headphones: KidSafe KidProof KidFriendly

My little ones love music and thoroughly enjoy being able to control and listen to their own music players at home or when travelling.  Finding child safe, long lasting and good quality headphones however isn’t always that easy.  I was delighted to be sent the BuddyPhones Cosmo + coolblue headphones designed for children age 3 years and over.

I was really impressed when I opened the box as included in the price is a smart colour matching box to store and keep your headphones.  From past experiences travel cases or storage bags have to be bought separately and can really increase the overall price.  The headphones fold away neatly into this case.  Also included are the correct cables and a removable (boom) microphone.  This microphone immediately makes the headphones perfect for voice calls or group chats and is something else that sets BuddyPhones apart from many other children’s headphones.  The headphones themselves are a vibrant bright blue.  The range has 6 different colours (cool blue, dark blue, yellow, grey, white or pink) so plenty to choose from which personalises it for your child if you have siblings and therefore several pairs.  Child friendly characters are on each of the headphones (which to be honest was the part I liked least but are appealing to children) and clear ‘L’ and ‘R’ lettering on the inside to assist putting them on the right way round.

The headphones cleverly combine active noise cancellation, safe audio volume limiting and three different listening modes (75, 85, or 94 decibels) making them perfect for use anywhere.  This upper limit is louder than some children’s headphones and I assume it is because they are also aimed at slightly older children as well as the younger ones (it is still well within noise level recommendations for children from the research I have seen).  One thing I have noticed with other children’s headphones is that when travelling the background noise can limit the sound quality, or even worse mean that your child can not hear the sound sufficiently.  I haven’t unfortunately been able to test these on a flight but the feature of ANC (active noise cancellation) is designed to remove this issue which would be fantastic.  Even in just loud or noisy places this feature ensures your child can still listen to what they want to.

An additional feature is that the headphones have a 20m wireless Bluetooth connection so cables are not always required, making it even more simple for children and no issues getting tangled up with wires.  The battery life is 24 hours which is great (although like many electronic devices now, whilst a usb cable for charging is included, a plug is still required in addition).  The adjustable headband means they can grow with your child and a 2 year warranty protects from any early issues.  They seem pretty sturdy and are certainly comfortable to wear with soft protein PU leather ear pads.  For the older child, features such as an answer/playback button and voice enhancing study mode are great additions.

I would certainly recommend these as a great gift for Christmas (or any other time!) and will be looking into purchasing another pair for my other child to stop them fighting over the pair we have!
