Kobe ketchup and the food bank book, written by Madelaine Black and illustrated by Shirley Waisman.
What an amazing front cover this book has.  It is bright and bold, colourful, exciting to look at ,and it is really great to see that there was a mix of culture in the story.  Would be lovely in future stories to see a lot more representation of other cultures though.  On opening the book it doesn’t disappoint either.  The characters in this book are so fun and exciting.  Kobe ketchup is obviously the star of the show with his red costume and green mask and long flowing cape and of course k for Kobe ketchup on the suit.  The story is about a boy, Jay, and his mum.  His mum looses her job and things get tough but she’s too proud to accept help, but Kobe ketchup helps to save the day.  The book is wonderfully written in a rhyming style so makes it really easy and enjoyable to read for any age.  It’s very catchy, making it enjoyable to even children who don’t enjoy reading so much.  Every page has a very big bold and bright, colourful illustration that really jumps out at you and all the pictures really do tell the story in the pictures.  The pictures really do come alive, so even for a child that can’t read , they can look at the pictures and can tell the story.  I also think it’s more appealing as a lot of the characters are related to food and what child doesn’t like food and ketchup.

The author Madeleine Black is passionate about fundraising and food banks and so a percentage of book sales are donated to bankuet who fund food banks up and down the country.  The other great thing with this book is the bar codes that can be scanned, One is for the bankuet website and the other is free teaching resources which anyone can use .The author Madeleine Black does have some other titles which I hope to collect including one about Meir carrot and I hope many more will be available in the future.  To find out more about this wonderful author, her webpage is www.madelaineblack.com and to find out more about Shirley Waisman the amazing illustrator her webpage is www.shirleywaisman.com. This wonderful writer Madelaine black is very passionate about fund raising and helping people so every copy sold of this book £1.5p goes to bankuet who fund food banks up and down the country.  They then donate £1 of that to the food banks which is amazing as these food banks provide much needed food and so much more including advice and support.  I’m not ashamed to say we have used them in the past, and what amazing people are giving their time to run these and you are not judged. This wonderful book is available to buy from purplemashpublishing.com and many more websites including Amazon and what a fantastic book to buy for yourself, family, friends or even to donate to a school or somewhere like a charity.  This book needs to be shared, so share the love and get a copy now at a price of £8.99.
