Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal Eau De Parfum Women’s Gift Set From Perfume Direct Review

Perfume Direct Limited were kind enough to send me the Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal gift set, comprised of a 50ml Scandal Eau De Parfum and 75ml perfumed body lotion. This arrived beautifully presented in a metal box of silver, red and pink. Inside the box is a luxurious red velvet with standout gold brand name.

Previous incarnations of JPG fragrances have always been strong with a recognisable element of the masculine or feminine on bottles for both men and women. Notably using a torso, this deviates away from that aesthetic by concentrating on legs for the Scandal fragrance. The fragrance itself is in a glass bottle with the lid as a pair of feminine legs with heels. It exudes femininity and edginess, but for me that’s what Jean Paul Gaultier is known for. On my vanity table I display my perfumes and this bottle really is a stand out that draws you to it in a collection.

The Perfume Direct site lists the fragrance as ‘a fruity burst of blood orange, followed by a deliciously sweet heart of honey, gardenia, orange blossom, jasmine and peach on a base of patchouli and caramel. A truly sensuous and inviting scent.’

I couldn’t resist trying out the scent when it arrived, so at around 1pm I sprayed a small amount on my wrist. The scent itself is sexy and sensual in my opinion and I think would appeal to a large age range. The floral really came through for me along with a sweet warmth. The longevity and strength of the scent are both fantastic, when I went to sleep around 10 hours later, I could still smell the scent as I got into bed. This bottle will last a long time, which is fantastic!

The next day, out and about several people complemented my scent, it’s one of those that when you walk past in the street you get a pleasant waft that you just want to know what it is. For me I would use this fragrance more for special occasions or when I’m out for the day. However, it is strong for a confined space such as an office, even though it’s lighter as the day goes on but still very present.

I utilised the lotion after a shower and it sunk in beautifully leaving my skin soft, with the iconic fragrance exactly as sampled from the perfume. It’s stunning and a beautiful treat.

With mother’s day fast approaching if you want to gift your mum with an intense feminine fragrance with a beautiful sweetness and warmth. A long-lasting gift that some mums may not splurge on for themselves, a perfume is that thoughtful gift that keeps on giving. Its also suitable for most age groups that like this type of scent and translates well for all seeking a feminine fragrance with an edge.

I would rate this 5/5 a gorgeous scent for all year round.
