Aqua Gelz Deluxe Playset Review

We were super interested to see what Aqua Gelz were all about! The box states that Aqua Gelz are a magical liquid that transforms into colourful, fun, squishy creations. Apparently, all we have to do is mix the special powder with water, squeeze the Aqua Gelz into the supplied moulds, then place them into the solution tank and watch as it sets in seconds.

This kit allows you to make over 40 Aqua Gelz creations with special finishes, including glitter and glow in the dark creations which really excited my little girl. She was super excited about playing with her creations in the Aqua Tank.

We got our box and checked that all the contents was there: It contained 6x60ml coloured gelz, 2x15ml glitter gelz, 1x15ml glow-in-the dark gelz, 6 different characters, 8 packets of solution mix, a reusable solution tank and a display tank.

We started making our creations according to the instructions which states to start your new creation by adding the correct amount of Solution Mix and clean water to the reusable clear solution tray on back side of package. The MIXING CHART lists the correct amounts of water and Solution Mix requires.

I had wished that the following sections highlighted as bold as the first few goes, I allowed my 8 year old to mix it herself with disastrous consequences!! If the indicated proportions of water and Solution Mix are not followed the Solution will not work properly.

Then we were meant to stir until the Solution Mix is completely dissolved in the water. I found that even though this product states that it was for children 8 and over, the instructions and set up would definitely require adult support to ensure that the correct steps were followed.

The next instructions stated that we had to choose a character mould and to prepare it for gel and ensure easy gel release, we had to give it a quick dunk into the Solution, lift it out, tap & shake off the excess solution. Some of our creations were a bit hit and miss which really annoyed my little girl. She doesn’t give up easily but she really had to persevere to get one to work successfully! She was however super impressed with her little design.

This item gets a 4/5 from us due to level of difficulty. Adult support is definitely required BUT, other then that, I think this makes a great Christmas present for most children who enjoy crafting and making things. The website states that the Aqua Gelz Creation Station Kit is the perfect gift for boys and girls to keep your little ones entertained for hours on end with this magically transforming gel kit and I whole heartedly agree, just need your adults to help you with measurements. This will make Christmas shopping so much easier when you are stuck for ideas for children who love most things!
