“Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption – a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit.”

It was my privilege tonight to be invited to review Les Misérables at Milton Keynes Theatre. Special mention today to the staff at Milton Keynes, they are all very welcoming. I had not previously seen the show, read the book, listened to the music or seen a film. I knew nothing other than people can never speak highly enough of this musical masterpiece.

I went expecting great things, I wanted to be wowed, I wanted this to be the highlight of my musical theatre experiences. Breath-taking. Stunning. Mystical. Amazing, I can’t really articulate how I felt about tonight’s show.

Please, please take my word for it, this show is the highlight of 2019 for me. Grown up top class, showstoppingly fantastic. The singing is just nothing short of stunning. The set the costumes, all fabulous. I really don’t know why it’s taken me so long to see this musical, but I really can’t wait to experience it again. It was an emotional journey that I thoroughly enjoyed. All too soon it was all over and I couldn’t help but be disappointed, I could have stayed all night. No sooner had act one began and you started your journey with the characters in the story, than the final curtain came down.

My congratulations to the whole cast, it would be very wrong to single anyone out for praise, you were all deserving of the standing ovation. I was completely overwhelmed by the passion, the imagery the story. The cast were all outstanding. An incredible adventure, please if you can go see the show, you truly truly shouldn’t miss it. Les Misérables, thank you so much, what an amazing night of sensational entertainment.
