“That’s Entertainment” is a compilation of well-known hits from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. I was going to the theatre for a good night out, not expecting to know many of the songs from that era, but I was pleasantly surprised to hear the likes of “Putting on the Ritz”, “Downtown”, “You’ll never walk alone” and one of my all time favourites “I Say a Little Prayer”.
The whole show is designed to lift one’s spirits up, the songs are upbeat and the dancers are amazing at what they do! Tap, jazz, cabaret, waltz and that’s just a little sneak peak of the things one can enjoy during the show (and that’s beside the music, of course!). 2 minutes into the show, and I was tapping under my seat to the beats of the songs and was ready to join the dancers on stage. And the costumes! Stylish, luxurious, dazzling with sparkles, there are not enough words to describe how exquisite they were!
But the star of the show was Jane McDonald, one of the best and most popular British singers, presenters and entertainers, star of 1998 BBC1 show “The Cruise”. There is no end to her talents: a great stand up comedian, amazing singer and just a stunning woman! Great engagement with the audience! She’s not even been on stage for 10 seconds when the audience joined in with Scottish all time classics like “Ye Canny Shove Yer Grannie Off The Bus”.
I had a brilliant night! And so did the rest of the audience! Standing ovations, audience participation, and lots of glitz and glamour – all of that added to a magic, unforgettable night!
A must see for everyone!
