The musical is based on the book and film of the same name and tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolled at Harvard Law School to win back her ex, Warner. She discovers how her knowledge of the law can help others and successfully defends her client, Brooke, in a murder trial. Throughout the show no one has faith in Elle (bar her imaginary Greek chorus) but she defies expectations whilst staying true to her all pink self.

The amateur production performed by the Pantheon Club features an enthusiastic cast, with an all singing and dancing ensemble supporting the leading roles. Brooke, played by Vicky Robertson, portrayed a convincing “fitness queen” – whipping the dancers into shape during a particularly energetic skipping rope fuelled dance number. Paulette provided plenty of comic moments, whilst the live triangle of Elle, Warner and Emmett played out.

The stage was very pink and fully in keeping with the theme of the show. It made clever use of a reversible piece of scenery to act as both the Sorority house and Elle’s bedroom at Harvard. The costumes were self-styled, as appropriate – and Elle’s variety of pink outfits pretty impressive!

The King’s Theatre is a traditional small and beautiful theatre with a warm atmosphere and ambiance. It is very comfortable and clean with helpful, friendly and polite staff and has a great modern bar. The theatre is in the heart of Glasgow City Centre, so easily accessible by public transport and has parking available around the theatre plenty of option for pre/post theatre restaurants and bars.

I had a very enjoyable evening at the King’s Theatre and would recommend the production to friends and family.
