This UV Resistant Tent from Beaba arrived in a cardboard outer detailing the item. The item itself is then in a handy zip up storage bag. Inside the bag is the tent, a soft inner mattress for the tent, 4 pegs in a bag and the instructions. The instructions were minimal but that is all that is required. The item itself and its accessories are a silvery grey colour. The tent then has lime green trim and features. The tent looks like it is a quality item. The stitching is neat and there is lots of detailing, like the windows that have mosquito netting. I was surprised with how small the bag with the item in was as it is a similar size to a play tent I have which does not fold away very small at all.

This tent is extremely quick and easy to set up as it practically pops open once out of the bag. When out, the tent looks like a play tent rather than a specific sun tent. When I think of sun tents I think of ones on beaches which have one side completely open. This has a definite advantage to those as it is a full tent with four sides. The tent is both a sun protection item, +50 UPF UV resistance, and also waterproof so particularly useful for our unpredictable British weather! It’s also handy to have hooks for pegs in each corner and four pegs included so that it can be pegged down so it doesn’t blow away when it is slightly windy. It has a waterproof base which is thicker than its walls of which two opposite sides have large openings with the other two having windows with mosquito netting. One of the large openings also has zips at the base lip to enable it to be fully opened to the ground. This is handy for adults or older children to enable them to get in and out of the tent without putting strain on that part of it. However, it’s also useful to have up so my baby can’t roll straight out of the tent when rolling around within it. There are ties to tie back the doors and the window flaps if required.

As we have been blessed with some lovely sunny weather over Easter I have been able to test this in the full sunshine we have had. My 5 month old has been the main user so that we can all sit out in the garden together and he has the right sun protection while playing. I loved the inner mattress for the tent as it made it much more comfortable for him to lie on and roll around on rather than just being canvas straight on the ground or having to use cushions or other things from the house. It’s more like a duvet in softness than a thick mattress and is nice and soft on one side and waterproof on the other. I love that it is machine washable so can be cleaned if it gets dirty. However, it did move around a bit within the tent when he moved around so it would have been nice if it could be attached to the tent in some way when in, maybe with Velcro in the corners.

I liked the overall size of the tent. I will mainly be using it with my youngest, which it is ideal for. The guidelines are that it is for children up to the age of 4 (designed for infants of up to 12 months when lying down or 4 years when seated). I was unsure of this, however while my baby was in it my 4 and 2 year olds decided to join him! I turned my back for a moment and, when looking back round, noticed 2 little pairs of shoes outside the tent and heard lots of giggling from inside the tent. My baby was laying down and they had managed to both sit cross legged next to him.

The tent is a little tricky to put back down and fit back in the bag the first couple of times, particularly the first time, even though there are instructions included as to how to do this. As with many things, this gets much easier after the first couple of goes.

I would definitely say that this item is worth the money. I am off to Tenerife next month and am looking forward to using it there as it’s light enough and small enough to pack to take with us.
