The Milton Solo Travel Steriliser can be used to sterilise one bottle at a time, either in a microwave (2-6 minutes) or with cold water solution (15 minutes). This product is competitively priced when compared against other brands. It is small enough to fit any microwave (measuring 12.5×12.5x18cm) as it can be placed in sideways. The travel steriliser has the same valve in the lid as the Combi Steriliser, allowing a slow release of pressure as the temperature rises whilst in use, meaning this is a very effective way of killing bacteria. Importantly, the lid seals on tight, making it watertight and preventing any spillage of sterilising fluid. Bottles stay sterile for up to 24 hours in the solution and you don’t need to rinse before you use them which is convenient when out and about. It is extremely handy as I don’t drive and now do not have to carry multiple bottles about with me whilst visiting friends or family for the day; it makes travelling light as possible as it can be with a small baby! The option of cold sterilising also means I don’t have to worry about finding somewhere that has electric, or rushing home to feed – this would be handy to use at a picnic or a walk in the woods for example. I am going on holiday soon and this product will be ideal to use whilst travelling. When at home, I also find this to be very useful for cold sterilising pieces of equipment that cannot be steam sterilised, such as toys or teethers. I can see myself using this steriliser regularly at home when my baby drops down to one or two feeds a day; I can then pack away my huge steam steriliser and get my kitchen worktop space back!
As far as the drawbacks of this product go, the lid can be a little tricky to put on, and it needs screwing on very tightly or it leaks from the valve on the top, but those are minor problems.
Also, it only needs a quarter of a sterilising tablet, so you have to cut one up which is a bit irritating, but frugal!
Overall, this is a high quality and versatile product which I would recommend without hesitation to friends and family. This product has now made it on to my list of baby essentials!
