I have been colouring my hair red for quite some years and as I’m naturally dark brown, the colour doesn’t usually last long before it starts to fade. Due to this I was very excited at trying a product that was to help fix the colour in place, as I’ve never seen anything like this before.
When I first received the Surya Brasil Colour Fixation (single application) it was just a small bottle with a red label. Not that eye catching. There was no box or instructions either. I looked at the information on the label, and found that that is where the directions for use were. The writing on the label though was very small, as they had fit on some information about the product as well as the directions for use in four different languages along with the ingredients. If my eye sight wasn’t as good as it is I think I would have really struggled to read the information, and this could be a problem for some.
It was a 30ml bottle that stated it was a single application. I have long, thick hair and so I hoped there would be enough to cover all of it. I was pleasantly surprised, I covered my hair completely and there was even a little left over. The fragrance of the product is slightly herbal and quite nice, and the texture was similar to a conditioner.
One problem I did have when it came to applying the product was that it was hard to get out of the bottle. As its consistency is quite thick I had to really shake the bottle to get some out, and had to apply it a bit at a time because of this. You only leave the colour fixation on for 5 minutes which I think is a good time, as it puts me off some hair care products if you have to leave them on for 20 minutes before rinsing etc.
A major thing I did notice when drying and styling my hair after using the product was that it was really soft and there were no knots or tangles at all. When it was dry, my hair was lovely and shiny and looked really healthy. This is another benefit of the product as it helps repair damaged/chemically coloured hair using natural ingredients to help increase shine and moisturise each individual strand to lock in the colour. It is also nice to know the company looks at using sustainable ingredients and all products are vegan friendly and gluten free (I know you don’t eat it but anyone allergic to gluten is safe using the product).
I’m pleased with the immediate results of using this product and look forward to seeing the lasting effects. I would recommend this product to a friend as you can see and feel the effects of the ingredients used to repair and moisturise the hair immediately after use. Hopefully in 5-6 weeks’ time I will see the benefit of the colour fixation element.
I think it’s good that the product is available in a single application bottle as well as a larger one, as I think more people would be willing to give it a try as a one off to see how it is, and then they can purchase the larger bottle for frequent use.
I think the price for the single application is really reasonable, and again would encourage people to try it.
I would rate this product 3 out of 5 at the minute, but if the product does help lengthen the time between my colour applications I will definitely be giving it a 4-4.5 out of 5.
