It’s 2026, and we are all trying to do our bit for the environment and be more eco friendly. With this in mind, I was excited when I had the opportunity to review a few bits from Naty’s range of products. Moreover, I was interested to see if nappies and wipes could be eco friendly, whilst still being efficient.

With the UK preparing to phase out wet wipes containing plastic, an introduction to this brand felt like perfect timing!

Naty, the brand: Naty was founded by Marlene Sandber in 1994. The lawyer/mother/entrepreneur, wanted a better alternative to standard disposable nappies. Having not quite found what she was looking for, she ploughed 5 years of her time into researching different materials, and Naty was born. The company has developed over the years and now produces hygiene products for women as well as babies. Sanitary products. Nappies. Wipes. The brand is ever developing new ideas and products.

Naty, the nappies: made from bamboo, they are dermatological tested and free from chemicals – such a reassuring concept when you consider these are against your babies skin all day and night.

The nappies have a wetness indicator to let you know if baby is due a change ahead of the clock which is a handy, if not unique, feature.

Having used other brands, I did find the bamboo nappies felt a bit “papery” in comparison. Due to this, I also felt they had less stretch and unfortunately left wear marks on my baby’s skin despite her being well within the weight the size 2 nappies are intended for.

In terms of putting them on, I found the tabs to be less adhesive than I’m used to – and when trying to secure them, at times felt like they were going to rip off. But they did feel secure once in place, just took a bit of pressure.

Absorbency, again, unfortunately I didn’t find them the best. They didn’t fare well through the night (she sleeps for 10 hours) and when using in the day, the skin looked visibly wet despite the nappy not feeling full.

Naty, the wipes: in fitting with the brand’s ethos, the baby wipes state they are compostable. Which sounds great. Until you realise that’s only in an unused state. Which seems kind of pointless. They are however, plastic free and made with plant based ingredients which aligns with the eco brand. Given that a baby can generate 0.5 tonnes of plastic waste in one year, as the saying goes, every little helps!

As with the nappies, the wipes are dermatologically tested. And clinically tested. They are free from fragrance, essential/fragrance oils and drying alcohol. 98% water AND hypotonic, so pretty much perfect for baby’s sensitive skin! Naty wipes are suitable for eczema-prone skin too.

The wipes feel thick, strong and of good quality. Wet enough to do the job, without being too wet (which I’ve found some brands can be!)

The wipes could be a little tricky to separate at times, but I don’t think this is a brand specific issue and not one that would put me off using them.

Naty, the nappy bags: you guessed it, they’re made from plant based material and are compostable! The bags come packaged in a sturdy, handy, cardboard box. They’re on a roll inside the box and pull and tear off really easily. They’re not paper thin like most nappy bags, they feel really thick and strong whilst still feeling lightweight. As well as being user friendly in terms of access, the handles are a decent enough size to tie securely. The bag itself isn’t big, whilst they comfortably fit my size 2 nappies in, as the nappies get bigger in size (or fuller!) I’m not sure how easy it will be to fit them in there.

Overall, the brand has been a nice introduction to eco baby products for someone who has (embarrassingly!) never really considered eco nappies/wipes before. Whilst I don’t think I’m converted by the nappies (due to a mix of price, comfort and absorbency) I did quite like the wipes and would consider buying them again if I saw them on offer.

As much as people want to do their bit for the environment, I’m just not sure in this current financial climate, how many would be able to make that switch. Especially given how many packets of these things us parents go through!

It really is a catch 22; it would be nice to be more eco minded as we use so many, but because we use so many, we have to be frugal!
