Interview With Anna Gibson, Micro scooters Ltd.
I interviewed Anna Gibson from Micro Scooters Ltd…
Question 1: How and when did the business come about?
Answer 1: “It started in a park. My son hopped on a scooter and instantly became this fearless little adventurer. I tracked one down and just through seeing my son on it, other mums wanted one too, but you couldn’t buy them in the UK. My business partner, Philippa Gogarty and I thought, let’s change that. A quick trip to Switzerland later, Micro Scooters UK was born.”
Question 2: What would you say has been your biggest challenge?
Answer 2: “Running a business while raising small kids – chaos! We were learning everything on the fly, from logistics to marketing. Some days it felt impossible, but having each other kept us going.”
Question 3: Any wins you would like to tell us about?
Answer 3: “Every time we see a child’s face light up on their Micro scooter, that’s a win. We started selling to friends in the playground, and now kids across the UK are scooting to school, the park, everywhere. That feels amazing.”
Aside from this we certified as a BCorp in 2023 and then went on to recertify with an improved score earlier this summer. It makes me incredibly proud to be the founder of a business that’s so committed to doing what’s right by people and the planet.
Question 4: Is there anything exciting coming up that you would like to tell us about?
Answer 4: “Yes! We recently launched the Rock and Go, which we believe will be a game changer for parents with toddlers. It transforms from a child’s rocker through to the Mini Micro (the one we first discovered on the common). All without any need for tools. It’s a real thing of beauty.”
Question 5: What do you like doing in your leisure time?
Answer 5: “Honestly? Exactly what started all this, hanging out with our children. They are a little older now, but family time and fresh air are still my favourite things.”
