Entering the grounds of Halloweenville was like walking into a festival! The setting at Partridge Lakes in Culcheth, was lit up beautifully and adorned with treats for the eyes everywhere. From food vans serving a lovely variety of food such as pizza and burgers, tacos and drinks of all kinds – both soft and alcoholic.
There were lots of sweet treats such as marshmallow skewers that can be roasted over an open fire. If you want to sit down and take it all in, enter into the tent or indoor seating areas, all wonderfully decorated. In the tent, there is live music playing and heaters and blankets dotted about on the benches, perfect to keep the winter chills at bay. It’s a great place to enjoy a hot mulled wine and take in the wonderful atmosphere with friends and family. There is more however – if you are brave enough – you can enter the Halloweenville trail.

The trail will take you on woodland walk with a twist! You will be sent on a mission to redeem some gold coins and given a treasure chest to collect them in. There was performance by brilliant characters that we met along the way that delighted children – my favourite was Medusa – watch out for her, she’s grumpy!

This is a fantastic experience for families and particularly young children. It does feel like you are in a magic Halloween world and the best thing is that it’s not scary at all, more funny, entertaining and a little bit spooky. There are some great photo opportunities along the way and the setting and decorations were brilliant. The walk was the right length (around 45-60 minutes), you can spend as much or as a little time getting around each section as your children want.

We went on a Sunday night and there was a 30 minute queue to get in which wasn’t great with restless children, I believe this was down to cancellations the week before due to storm Amy. So I think it was a one off busy weekend.

The end of the trail brought us onto the pirate ship where it felt like we were welcomed by all the pirates onboard. There was a real party atmosphere, with games and activities for the children to take part in and more drinks and sweet treats to be purchased and enjoyed. Here you can stay as long as you like and enjoy the atmosphere and fun. Or you can meander back to the tent and continue your evening there.

Tickets for Halloweenville cost £30 for an adult and £24 for a child and can be purchased at https://halloweenville.co.uk/ There are different concessions and price bundles for families. As there are a lot of food stalls and things to spend money on there, I do feel this is a little pricey for an evening out, particularly for adults who will be spending their money on the stalls there. The trail is really for the children. Parking is available onsite and also needs to be purchased and is a little cheaper if purchased in advance.

I do recommend Halloweenville, it’s a great family event and a brilliant celebration of Halloween and all things spooky. I recommend making a real evening out of it to get the most of everything on offer. I’d say it is ideal for children aged 10 and below. I give the event 4/5 stars and dare you to complete the trail if you can!
