LEGO CITY Arctic Quest Activity Book with Minifigure Review

Reviewed by Jo Flaherty

The LEGO CITY Arctic Quest features adventurer Sam Snow, the collectible minifigure who is included on the cover. My seven year old couldn’t wait to build the minifigure, so we dived right in; Sam Snow comes with a furry hood and a radio – a great little character to add to our collection, and simple to put together. The book is a combination of puzzles tied in to Sam Snow’s story, and you are introduced to the characters straight away. The book is aimed at age 6+ and my son would have been quite capable of reading the story and completing the puzzles by himself, but I’m sure the book would also be enjoyed by younger children with a little supervision.

The book itself feels good quality and my son particularly liked the illustrations, which are detailed and really bring the book to life; exactly what you would expect from the LEGO brand. I think the book would be a good choice not just for reading at home, but also perhaps for a journey. I would pack something like this for a flight as it would be a good option to help keep kids entertained. You could while away quite a bit of time reading and talking about the story and its arctic theme, as well as doing the puzzles. If I were to make any criticism, or suggestion, it would be that the book would perhaps benefit from a colouring or doodling page to really engage the child and provide a creative outlet aside from the puzzles. For its target age group, it would have been an interesting addition to have some ‘cool facts’ about the arctic, but these are just small things and on the whole the book is very enjoyable.

The RRP is £6.99 and I think its good value for money since it comes with the minifigure. I would recommend it to friends and I’m sure I will buy others from the series.
