Run, jump, stomp, glide, flip, turn and soar with the Stomp Rocket stunt plane set (3 stunt planes trick set).

The Stomp Rocket is targeted for children aged 5 – 12 years, but let’s be honest, when I was given the opportunity to review this toy, I was pretty sure that I would get as much pleasure and excitement (as a 30+ year old man) from playing with it, as any kid would! My inner child was certainly going to relish the moment!!

Please note, that due to small parts being a potential choking hazard, this toy is not suitable for children under the age of 3. This warning is clearly stated on the packaging.

There are many similar type of ‘stomp’ rockets out on the market, and some are considerably cheaper in price than this one, but when comparing them, this particular product has been ‘STEM approved,’ received multiple awards and has actually been designed by aeronautical engineers themselves.

On doing some research, STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. These are obviously core subjects in a child’s curriculum, so I deem that this toy has a huge educational element to it – the fun part is just an extra added bonus!

The Stomp Rocket Stunt Plane has received a multitude of awards including;
Creative Child Magazine’s 2020 – Top Toy, Preferred Choice and Seal of Excellence awards. Not to mention; Mum’s Choice Award, Dr Toy’s winner and Good Housekeeping ‘Lab Pick,’ to mention but a few. All of these accolades ensure that as a parent, this is a quality toy and gives me a great deal of confidence in the product. The manufacturer is also currently waiting on a patent for the design too, so it could well become a unique ‘stomp rocket.’

The Stomp Rocket toy itself contains 3 types of stunt plane. The main body of each plane is made of yellow foam and then the wings of each one is signed in a separate colour making them easily distinguishable from one another. The colours are bright and vibrant which helps you to spot the plane in the air or when it lands on the ground, especially should it land in bushes or long grass.
The Glider – this glides over 100ft and is bright orange in colour.
The Looper – does giant loops and is lime green.
The Wildcat – flips, soars and turns and is blue in colour.
This set also includes a launch stand, a launch tube and an air hose attached to a launch pad. Inside the packaging is an instruction leaflet showing you how to assemble the pieces, although it is pretty self explanatory so you might not need to use it. The plane attaches onto a plastic tripod launch stand with the aid of the launch tube, whilst the plastic air hose connects between the launch stand and the launch pad that you then run and jump or ‘stomp’ on. The plastic, stomping pad is approximately 20cm (long) x 10cm (width) which is a decent sized area to jump on. Smaller children should be able to jump onto the stomping pad with both feet.
The angle of the launch stand is manually adjusted in order to change the trajectory of the stunt plane.

When playing with the set, there are various ideas and concepts that you can help teach and demonstrate to children. The very easiest principle to watch in action, is gravity – the rocket will always fall back to the ground (unless you get it stuck in a tree or it lands on a roof!). You can change the angle that the rocket is launched from, so this helps educate children about angles (maths) and trajectory. Then, dependant upon the amount of ‘stomp’/ your jumping force when launching the rocket, this brings about the physics of force and the power of air. There are so many fun lessons to be learnt with this toy!

Please note the warning that there is a serious risk of eye injury or blindness should the toy be incorrectly used. You should never shoot the plane at others, you should not try to catch the falling planes and when launching the rockets, all other bystanders should stand behind the launch pad.

Although this is an ‘all weather’ and ‘all year round’ toy that can be played with, Easter is fast approaching and therefore, this is the type of gift that makes for a fun and interesting alternative to the standard chocolate egg. The Stomp Rocket would make a great, long lasting Easter present!
