I requested this item as I was sure that my 8-year-old granddaughter would really enjoy all the crafting involved as she spends lots of her spare time making and designing things.
The product arrived and was well packaged inside a cardboard box that was not much bigger than the actual product so there was no wasted packaging. Obviously, the outer box could be recycled. The inner box was brightly coloured and looked inviting as it showed pictures of what was included inside the box. My granddaughter could hardly wait to open the box to discover the contents inside.
The actual contents are listed on the back of the box. There is 1 3-in-1 studio, 4 tapes, 2 embossing cards, 2 stencils, 4 sheets of stickers, 2 rolls of stickers, 1 glue stick, 4 markers, 2 glitter glues, 10 printed sheets of paper, a small packet containing 100 gems and 1 notebook. They included instructions, although obviously translated from French, were clear and with the addition of photographs, the 3-in-1 station was easy to assemble and looked sturdy enough to last for hours of fun.
It states on the box that the product is suitable for 6-year-olds plus and obviously not suitable for children under the age of 3 due to the small parts included, especially the gems. I would think that children up to about 10 or 11 would get enjoyment from this product. It states that you should wash your hands after use, but I am not exactly sure why.
The instructions inside the box show you how to insert the tape into the dispenser. This is followed by a tip that it may be difficult to cut the tape because it is thick, so it may be helpful to use a pair of scissors to cut it more easily. Scissors are the only item not included in the kit. It also shows how to insert a roll of stickers.
To emboss your paper, you must open the embossing plate of your choice and place a small piece of paper inside it, then close it. You then position the embossing plate in the direction indicated by the arrow in the embossing machine. Hold the machine with one hand on the top and crank the handle from right to left with your other hand. Once the plate is completely out of the embossing machine, open it and hopefully, you have some beautifully embossed paper. Once shown how to do this, my granddaughter could do this on her own.
For decorating any creation, there are lots of stickers and children can use the stencils, glitter glue and felt pens as they choose to customize their belongings. In addition to scrapbooking, the items cold be used to decorate photo albums, photo frames, exercise books etc. Just let their imagination flow and this will give hours of fun. Most young girls are keen on craft activities (I used to run a Brownie unit) and this should provide hours of enjoyment so it would make a good gift.
It is made by Canal Toys in France but for customer service there is a distribution centre in York which can be contacted if there are any queries.
It is priced at £25 and is available from Amazon, Argos and Smyths Toys.
I would rate this 5/5
