When you think of Italy, you think of the classics: the fresh pizza from Naples, creamy Cacio e pepe from Rome, rich red wine from Tuscany, or sweet cannoli from Sicily. They’re all classic comfort flavours, and at this time of year, that’s exactly what is needed. It’s getting colder and darker, and there’s nothing better than a soothing hug in a bowl or glass – a real winter warm. Well, Stambecco liqueurs have come up with just the thing, and the ultimate Italian classic comfort-in-a-bottle: tiramisu liqueur.
Tiramisu, as you’ll likely know, is a delicious pudding made from layers of fresh mascarpone, sponge fingers, eggs, Vin Santo or Marsala and coffee, lightly dusted in bitter cocoa powder. Fun fact: Tiramisu literally translates as ‘Cheer you up!’ and that’s exactly what the dessert, and this liqueur does! I couldn’t even begin to imagine how the flavours could be captured in a liqueur, but Stambecco have done just that…
Master Distillers, Beppe Ronco and Denis Muni of Torino Distillati, created Stambecco Tiramisu, and launched earlier this year. Made from 100% natural ingredients, including coffee extracts from the local Torino region (which is known as the capital of Italian coffee), this liqueur aims to be a fitting tribute to the dessert – so let’s dive in!
From the outside, the unique Stambecco liqueurs bottle is an interesting, fun, bobbled design. It’s tactile, weighty and with the bright purple and yellow label, it’s also instantly recognisable, and wouldn’t look out of place at a fancy cocktail bar in town or on your kitchen shelf – it’s incredibly versatile. The golden amber liquid behind the glass looks incredibly inviting too!
Upon opening the bottle, there’s an immediate hit of coffee – classic to a tiramisu – with a delicate sugary sweet hint of chocolate. The tasting notes promise flavours of coffee, mascarpone, savoiardi biscuits (ladyfingers to you and I) and cocoa and boy, does it deliver!
Over ice, it’s the perfect blend of bitter and sweet, in a similar vein to the real-life dessert. It’s silky like mascarpone, with the richness of coffee and cocoa. Truly delightful, and at only 24% ABV, this is a delectable digestif, that won’t be too overpowering or fiery to taste for even the most delicate of palettes.
If you want to live on the wild side, Stambecco Tiramisu would also be at home in many a much-loved cocktail, giving a creamy edge to the classic Espresso Martini, or add a kick to a Mudslide.
By being so incredibly adaptable, Stambecco Tiramisu (RRP £24.99) is the perfect would-be gift this Christmas, for your traditional gran who likes a sweet sherry, or your adventurous mum that wants to ‘try something new’. It would be even more ideal for your cocktail-loving cousin who wants to shake it big on Christmas day. Either way, this bottle packs a grande punch, and will go down a treat!
So, go on, cheer yourself – or someone else – up this Christmas with Stambecco Tiramisu.
An iconic liqueur for an iconic dessert.
