We are always looking for things that we can travel with. We recently were able to have the chance to review the smart foooty. A ball that is flat packed and fits in your bag or even your pocket, its literally a flat pack ball that can be built when you want to play. We took it on our caravan holiday with us.
It was nicely packaged and all together with a reusable band slipped into a piece of cardboard. All recyclable and very simple.
I imagined it to be together already and you would simply just pull it into a ball shape and it would be ready to use. Whilst I liked the idea of making and building things , this ball took a good 20 mins to build before we could start playing. Everyone was very frustrated in the amount of time it took to put together.
The instructions were not easy to follow but I found a video online that made it easier and we were ready to go. Once it was together my 4 year old loved playing with it in the caravan and throwing it about. It was light enough to throw about and not worry about anything getting broken. We also took it out and about on our holiday and enjoyed using it in different places. My 4 year old wouldn’t let me flat pack it all holiday, which I’m quite glad about as I didn’t want the frustration of trying to put it together again. We took it outside most days and had fun throwing and kicking it about. I didn’t take it apart during the holiday as it was too fiddly and my 4 year old didn’t have the patience to wait each morning for me to build it.
I’m not sure how often we will use it though I have left it in the car for our next adventure but kept it together.
I like the concept of this idea but I think it needs to be less complicated to make, at first we built it outwards and then realised it had to be built inwards to make the ball shape. It’s very flexible and even tolerated being stood on and bounced back into shape. It’s light weight and goes far when you kick it because of it being light.
The age range is from age 4 to adult and originally made by the smart toys company that make fun educational toys, they offer a huge range, which aim to engage I’m a world of imagination and help with cognitive skills.
Smart foooty definitely cannot be built by a 4 year old, I think even an older child may struggle with it.
This product is available to buy at https://smarttoysandgames.co.uk it was gifted by them for the purpose of this review. It can also be brought in other retailers such as Amazon.
The price of the Foooty is £11.99 which I thought was a bit steep to begin with and having now used it throughout our holiday I’m not sure it’s a product I would recommend buying.
I would rate it 3/5 due to how fiddly it was to initially but together.
