i-box Slix Bluetooth Speaker Review

I did not really know what to expect when I was offered this portable speaker to review.  I am also a bit of a technophobe so was not looking forward to working out how to use it.

The speaker itself is small and compact and would easily fit in a pocket or handbag so you can take it with you wherever you go (155 x 58 x 28mm). It has quite a modern look to it and the casing is like a rubber track which would protect it should it be dropped. It is also surprisingly light (202g) which again makes it perfect to take wherever you want.

Now for the technical bit. I was wrong to worry about setting it up as it couldn’t be easier. You literally press and hold down the power button for 3 seconds, the LED will flash blue which shows it is ready to pair with another device, you also hear an audible notification to indicate that the speaker is ready to pair. It will then appear on the Bluetooth device you want to use it with (mine was my iPhone), I also paired it with my son’s tablet and it was really easy.

Because of the size of it I was convinced that the sound would be poor quality. I couldn’t have been more wrong the sound is fantastic (6W RMS power output through a pair of 1.5in full-range super-slim drivers). The volume can be controlled on the speaker but will also increase by turning up the volume on the phone. I was seriously impressed by the volume and quality of the sound, it packs a real punch. It can also be paired with another Slix speaker for true stereo sound!

I love this product and think it is great value for money. It will be perfect in the summer when chilling in the garden, and for the beach while on holiday. It has a 10 hour battery life and is charged via a USB port.

A great little product for a great price.
