Brand-New Village Festival Set To “Ignite Your Imagination” This Summer – Preview
A brand-new village festival is set to bring together the very best music and arts that Lincolnshire has to offer, in a five-day event this summer.
The first-ever Welton Music and Arts Festival, taking place from 3rd to 7th July, will offer a range of ticketed and free events including live music and comedy, artist workshops and a street food market.
Hosted by Welton-by-Lincoln Parish Council, the event will bring high-quality acts to the village and highlight local talent in areas such as music, dancing, singing, theatre and comedy.
The festival kicks off on 3rd July with a tribute night celebrating the music of Gary Barlow and Erasure, before students from local St Mary’s Primary School are able to join a circus skills workshop on the 4th July.
The celebrations will continue on 5th and 6th July with choral and opera performances, a comedy night, a range of workshops including painting and silver hammering, and a fun-filled Ceilidh.
To round up the festival on 7th July, there will be Sunday services at Welton Methodist Chapel and St Mary’s C of E Church, as well as a theatre performance and street food market.
Councillor Mrs Marlene Chapman, Chairperson, Heritage & Events Committee at Welton-by-Lincoln Parish Council, said:
“We’re so looking forward to the first-ever Welton Music and Arts Festival this summer, which will offer something for everyone – no matter what your age or interests.
“We love our village and, over the past 100 years, it has grown from a dispersed collection of farms and cottage industries to one of Lincolnshire’s best places to live with a strong sense of local identity.
“As it grows, we want to invest in the village’s social calendar and bring our community together, and the festival provides a fantastic opportunity to do this on a new scale.
“We have an exceptional line-up featuring music, dancing, theatre and much more – so come and join us in the celebrations!”
Tickets are on sale now and all proceeds will be reinvested in providing free activities for the students of St Mary’s Primary School and other community activities, as part of the festival.
