What’s on your Christmas Gift List Review

Reviewed by Kathryn Harrison

With December fast approaching it’s time to start thinking about Christmas! I recently discovered two items that will definitely be on my letter to Santa this year.

First up was the Emma Jane Organic Cotton Nursing Bra. As a second time breastfeeding mum I have spent a lot of time and money finding a well fitting, and supportive nursing bra so I was eager to discover if the Emma Jane bra would meet my high expectations. When I was ordering the bra I was surprised by the limited number of sizes available, I chose the size closest to my normal size and hoped for the best. When the bra arrived the reason for the lack of choice became clear, on the website there were no measuring guidelines for this specific bra but on the packaging there was a clear chart explaining how to measure yourself and then convert those measurements into the sizes. It was then apparent that each size covered a wide range of measurements. As any breastfeeding mum can tell you, your breasts change size frequently throughout your time breastfeeding. Far too often I’ve bought a bra only to find a few weeks (or even hours) later that it isn’t fitting properly. By having a wide range this bra can accommodate a changing shape and size.

When I first wore the bra I was pleased with how soft and comfortable the 50% organic cotton cups were. Even after a full days wear I felt comfortable and supported. Obviously the main thing to look for in a nursing bra is the ability to nurse with ease and this bra certainly delivers that ease. The clips are very easy to unfasten and fasten, even one handed, and thanks to the 10% lycra the bra stretches easily and doesn’t leave the cups loose and saggy.

When the bra arrived in the post I was pleased to see that it was packaged well in a plastic postage bag rather than a big box. This meant the parcel could be posted through the letterbox, so no waiting in for delivery or having to go and collect from the post office whilst still being delivered in perfect condition.

With Christmas party season nearly upon us I’m very happy to have this bra as it fits well and gives the wearer a lovely shape meaning not only will it look good under that little black dress I’ll also feel comfortable, supported and able to nurse with ease. At only £15 from www.more4mums.co.uk its a great buy, I just wish it came in more colours than just black.

Next is the Family Life Book 2018 from Boxclever Press. I was very excited to receive the Family Life Book, having been gifted the original Life Book for the past two Christmases I knew I would be receiving a quality organiser. However as my family has grown I was keen to discover of the change from the Life Book to the Family Life Book would help me stay on top of our busy schedule as well as plan and organise the humdrum chores of family life. This diary delivers that and so much more!

When the parcel arrived it was well packaged. There was a plastic postage bag, covering a cardboard box that then contained a layer of tissue paper with the diary in the centre. All those layers felt like I was unwrapping a gift on Christmas morning!

I was eager to look inside the diary and discover all the features it has. The first thing to impress me was the week to view diary that has 7 columns, this means each family member can have their own column as well as making it easier to keep track of special events. There are also monthly calendar pages making it easy to see what you have planned with a quick glance. Add that to the separate planning pages for Christmas and summer holidays then the whole year becomes a doddle to organise.

There are lots of extras in this organiser that make it so much more than just a diary. Each month has pages to record budgets, incomings and outgoings and to do lists which will really help keep on top of things. I love that there is a whole section with detachable shopping lists, no more losing lists written on scrap pieces of paper. Its often the little things that make the biggest difference to me, things like the separate address book that can be removed and transferred each year, the pen loop that means no more hunting in the bottom of my bag for a pen and the cute reminder stickers which are not only fun but practical to help you plan and organise with ease. The stickers and address book are both held in a pocket at the back of the diary which is large enough to also hold all those important letters, reminders, and tickets etc that you don’t want going missing.

The company that brings us the Family Life Book has recently rebranded from Organised Mum to Boxclever Press but the quality of the diaries are still of the same high standard. This diary would make an excellent Christmas gift for any busy parent or at only £14.99 from www.boxcleverpress.com treat yourself to one, you won’t forget it!
