Tala Enamelware Medium Roaster Review

We’re having a new kitchen fitted soon and I’m taking it as an opportunity to review all the many pots and pans that have been accumulated over the years and to rationalise and declutter. It’s also a good excuse to upgrade to more good-looking items.

It’s refreshing to have a roasting pan that looks handsome on the table as well as something that does the heavy lifting in the kitchen. The roasting pan from Tala does all this. It’s cream inside and a classic navy blue on the outside all with a glossy finish.

The medium roaster size (33 x 24 x 5cm) is a great all-rounder. It can just as easily be used for heating up frozen chips, roasting potatoes for a Sunday lunch or baking a homemade lasagne. And it’ll look great on the dining table when it comes to dishing up.

It’s ovenproof to 400C and can also be used on traditional gas and electric hobs. So, once you’ve roasted the chicken you can transfer it to the hob to make your gravy! Meaning fewer dishes to wash-up! Whilst it is dishwasher safe it’s recommended that it’s washed by hand to preserve the enamel.

The pan comes in an attractive box making it a gift idea for a house-warming or wedding present – however if you’re thinking of buying this for Mother’s Day I would recommend you bake something in it first and present the whole meal as the gift with the added bonus of the beautiful enamelware to keep.

I like the reassurance that this is British made and that by buying it you are supporting British manufacturing. In fact, Tala is one of Britain’s oldest and best loved kitchenware brands, established in 1899.

It feels like a great piece that will last for years.
