One wet and windy Friday afternoon we visited the Royal Oak Beefeater. On arriving at the restaurant there was plenty of car parking spaces but thought it could have been a problem if arriving at one of their busier times as for the size restaurant the car park really wasn’t that big. Once inside the reception we found ourselves waiting around to be booked in and although we had phoned ahead and booked our names weren’t in their books so could have been a problem if they was busy. While waiting we had a look round and noted the décor was warm and inviting and how there was the option of both booths and tables.

We were greeted by our waitress Danielle who apologized for our wait and then offered myself and my partner a choice of tables; we opted for a booth and were shown to our seats. Our waitress was a friendly bubbly lady and did all she could to make us feel welcome, she gave us our menus  explained the specials that were on offer and took our drinks order, we opted for 2 coca colas which she then went off to get.

Our drinks arrived very promptly and the waitress then went on to take our food order. We opted for chicken liver pate for starters which was served with brown toast and spiced onion marmalade which we shared followed by a 10oz rump steak served rare with grilled tomato, mushroom, salad and plain chips for my partner and for myself I ordered chicken breast and Bourbon and black ribs severed with spicy chips, salad and battered onion rings.

Our starters came after 10 minutes of ordering, it was well presented and tasty and we were offered more toast if we wanted as we was sharing it. After our plates were cleared our mains arrived again very well presented and smelt and looked delicious. My partner noted that his steak was cold which we explained to our waitress, she apologized  and sent it back to the kitchen for a new one to be cooked he was given a complimentary drink on the house to say sorry which he was happy with. Once his meal had come back we both enjoyed our meals the steak and ribs were cooked beautifully. For dessert we opted to share a chocolate fudge brownie sundae which being a chocolate lover I just loved every mouthful it was lush!

Our overall experience of the Royal Oak Beefeater was really good we enjoyed a nice meal in warm comfortable surroundings. The waitress was very polite and friendly checking on us throughout our meal to see if there was anything we needed and if everything was ok. Overall we had a good time and would go back again.
