I am a big fan of all things afternoon tea related so when I received the ‘Time for Tea’ gift set from Moonpig on a dull, rainy morning I could hardly wait to have our own little tea party at home.  Having used Moonpig several times previously for cards I’ve always been impressed by the quality and quick delivery and on receiving the gift set this was no exception. The gift set came presented in a sleek black gift box with ribbon and contained within it were:

•  ’Loulou’ Spotty Tea for one set by Bombay Duck in a hat gift box
•  Teapot Stainless Steel Tea Strainer
•  Eteaket Earl Grey Tea (Loose)
•  Meg Rivers artisan cake pack:
– 4 x Mini Megs; Cherry, Carrot, Date & Walnut, Chocolate & Hazelnut
– 2 x Shortbread: Plain & Choc Chip

I absolutely love the teapot and it has quickly become one of my favourite things. It sits in a matching cup and with its gorgeous vintage style I would be delighted to receive it as a gift on its own but the other items in the box just make it extra special.

The aroma of the Earl Grey tea was amazing as soon as I’d opened the box so I was really looking forward to trying it and I was not disappointed. Being so used to just sticking a tea bag in a mug to make a cup of tea I quite enjoyed the ritual of brewing our tea in the more traditional way using the loose tea leaves. The stainless steel strainer which came in the box felt like good quality and being shaped like a little teapot looked stylish too.

The cake pack was a real treat. The muffins were dense and indulgent and the shortbread was melt in your mouth and very tasty. I think my favourite was the carrot cake with its strong cinnamon flavour it was delicious. After drinking all the tea and eating all the cake my husband and I could manage there was still plenty leftover for at least another afternoon tea or two.

At £45 I thought this set was a little on the pricey side but it is reflected in the luxury quality of the products. All in all I loved the ‘Time for Tea’ set and think it would make a lovely and very much appreciated gift for anyone who enjoys their tea and cakes. I will also be checking out what other gift sets are available on Moonpig when looking for gifts in the future.
