Monday night’s gig at The Lowry Theatre in Salford Quays, Manchester  ticked every box that you could want at a live gig, amazing music, drama, a great crowd the list could go on and on. The capacity crowd were enthralled with the man himself and you just couldn’t help being caught up in the moment.

Matt was on top form and the style of the gig just added to the magic of the night it was literally just Matt, his guitar and his wonderfully talented keyboard player Paul. If you ever want to see a genuinely talented performer in action, then this is how you should see them.

I have to admit whilst Matt was on X Factor I did assume that his voice was OK but was tweaked to make it that bit better. How wrong was I – Matt’s vocal skills are truly breathtaking as demonstrated in several covers such as Adele’s ‘Set Fire To The Rain’ in my opinion no one should ever attempt an Adele song as you will inevitably fail. Matt again proved me wrong.

Matt is the epitome of a cheeky southerner and he plays this role well. He regaled the crowd with anecdotes and tales of heartbreak. I along with many others lost a piece of my heart to him.

The set itself was over 70 minutes of great songs and even greater vocals. The only negative I can give albeit a minor one that can be forgiven was that he was late coming on stage. There was over 45 minutes between the supporting act and him, you could see the crowd getting fed up but all was forgiven when the man himself came on stage.

If you can get a chance to see his remaining dates I would highly recommend you do so.
