The show was at The Lowry theatre in Manchester. The Lowry is easy to find as it’s well signposted and isn’t too far from Manchester city centre, those without transport can use one of many local methods of transport such as bus, taxi, metro link and those who drive, The Lowry has a multi-storey car park which is linked to a shopping outlet and wining/dining areas and is within a short walking distance of the theatre.

The Lowry accommodates people with disability and there are always members of staff on hand to help. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who handed both me and my partner our tickets and showed us which way we needed to go for the Quays Theatre. There are many refreshments stands and also a bar and restaurant. Once seated we had a fantastic view of the stage and the seats where comfy.

John Robins is a 35 year old Bristol born stand-up comedian and radio DJ who had stared in various television programmes such as Live at The Apollo, Russell Howard’s Good News Show, Mock The Week plus many more… He has also previously supported Queen and Adam Lambert during a new years show 2014-2015. John has also won the 2017 Edinburgh comedy award for his stand-up show, The Darkness of Robins.

The performance elaborated on John’s dry humour mostly aimed at relationships and love and he referenced a lot to the breakup with his girlfriend of four years, Sara Pascoe, who is also a comedian. He made various funny points about how relationships ended, which always ended in funny one liners. The show was long enough that John could fit all the material in without losing its humour.

The audience where of mixed ages and everyone seemed to find him very funny, although some of the references may have alluded some of the younger audience members including myself. If you want a funny show without a gimmick, then I would definitely recommend watching this show.
