Father Dowling Investigates is an American detective series set in Chicago. Father Frank Dowling (Tom Bosley) is a Catholic priest with a passion for detective stories. With the help of his sidekick Sister Stephanie ‘Steve’ Oskowski, a street-smart nun with a criminal past, they solve crime together.

Everywhere they go they seem to find a murder victim, and even when the police think it is solved he doesn’t agree and goes off to solve the real crime and free the innocent suspects. Sister Steve grew up in a nearby housing project to the church, she is able to pick locks, hot wire cars, steal and various criminal acts and helps the Father with his amateur investigations. Father Dowling saved her from her past life and she became a nun.

During this series Father Dowling has to deal with: bullets made of ice, missing bodies, arms dealers, the mob and a priest accused of murder.

The housekeeper, Marie Murkin (Mary Wickes), provides the comedy with her sniping and one liners.

Overall, I found this to be a very enjoyable detective series. Whether you have seen this before on television or new to it I recommend watching it. A light-hearted detective series that is very easy to watch.
