I think this could be one of the most difficult reviews that I will have to do. I want to talk about how much fun I have had at Breakout Manchester, without mentioning how!

I have just spent an evening locked in a room with two other ladies trying to escape from the Most Wanted room. I want to write about everything we had to do to get out but I can’t because that would be giving the game away.

I had a great time. Our Breakout game was on High Street in Manchester. It was really easy to find as it is just by the Arndale Centre. So we parked there and wandered through the shopping centre and came straight out on to High Street.

We were greeted by a lovely young lady who sat us down and explained she would be back in a minute to take us through all the health and safety bits and pieces.

When she came back she had some props with her – cowboy hats to be precise!

She took us in to the ‘briefing’ room and went through all the usual health and safety regulations (but don’t worry this only took about 2 minutes) and then proceeded to tell us about the room: we would be entering a Wild West saloon as bounty hunters looking for treasure and we needed to escape before the sheriff caught us.

So we all donned our cowboy hats and entered the saloon. It was set out just as you would see a saloon looking in the films. It was dark and there was Wild West paraphernalia everywhere.

I have done another Breakout room and this room is different to the others. In this one, you had to collect poker chips. The more you got the higher you went up a leader board. And, if you escaped with some time remaining on the clock, you can go back in and search for more treasure.

I’m not going to go into any more detail about inside the room or what we had to do to escape.

This room is one of the more difficult rooms, it is rated 4/5 for difficulty and it really was a mind boggle at times!

On a few occasions, we all found ourselves stood there scratching our heads and shrugging our shoulders as some of the clues and quizzes were really tough.

We all agreed at the end we found this room the most frustrating out of the ones we have done previously.

We managed to escape with only a few minutes left on the clock which meant we could go back in and carry on searching for more treasure, not that we found much!

We didn’t get onto the leader board, but were told we did better than average – but I do have to say, it was tough.

There were only 3 of us doing it and I think we could have done with another person helping us. The minimum amount of people they recommend to play the game is 2 and the maximum is 5. However, I think with the difficulty rating of this room, I would say 2 people might not be enough.

Once we were out of the room and I found myself feeling mentally tired rather than physically. I think that is again because this room is one of the more difficult rooms to play.

I think the Most Wanted room was my favourite, because of the clues and treasure that we had to find. I found that when we did find treasure we all got excited and made us search faster for more.

I would definitely give Breakout a 5 out 5. The staff were all lovely and the room was brilliant. We had time before and after the game to chat to the staff about what we had done before and how we felt the game had gone and never felt like they wanted us out to get the next lot in etc.

I will most certainly be returning to try the other rooms in the future. Thank you for a fab night!

Rating: 5/5 thumbs_up

Price: Dependent on how many people are playing. The more people playing, the cheaper the price!
