Breakfast at Frankie & Benny’s St Anne’s Street Manchester Review

Reviewed by Claire Murray

From the first sight of Frankie & Benny’s restaurant, you could see how immaturely clean and sparkling it was inside and out. I visited the Manchester City centre restaurant on St Anne’s Street. I was greeted by Helen, who was lovely and shown to our table, she helped me with my pram and appeared with a high chair within seconds.

We settled ourselves into one of the retro booths and ordered our drinks which came within minutes. The fresh coffee was refillable and came with a jug of milk to make to our own taste. The children were given crayons and pictures to colour in while adults could take in the array of soft furnishings decorating the stunning interior of this old building. The exterior makes the restaurant look small but it extends a long way inside.

Our lovely waitress came back and we ordered the Big Breakfast (£5) and Eggs Benedict (also £5). Our food arrived on large oval plates and the full English consisted of a sausage, streaky bacon, two fried eggs, grilled tomato, flat mushroom, baked beans and crispy herb potatoes. The potatoes were my favourite part, fried and crunchy, definitely a tasty start to the day! I was more than full by the end and completely satisfied!

The Eggs Benedict was poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, chopped chives on a muffin with a choice of mushroom, ham or bacon. The only criticism with this one was the plate was a little cool and would have kept food warmer if it was heated more.

Our children loved the chunky toast which was an optional extra to the meals, but came with real butter and jam packets. When bending down to pick up endless toys chucked out of the high chairs, I was really impressed of how clean everything was which is important to me.

At the end of our meal, our plates were promptly moved and my pram was delivered right back to me by staff. The only trouble Id encountered during our time was being fixed booths, I had no room to attempt to breast-feed our baby, but we pinched a chair from another table and sat at the end.

We had a lovely experience here, we are looking forward to returning to try more of the menu and thank you to Helen who was an absolute credit to the staff.

Breakfast at Frankie & Benny’s is served until midday. Breakfasts cost 3.95 for a Lighter Breakfast, £5 for an Amazing Breakfast  and £6.95 for a Luxury Breakfast.
