2 Weeks in the Super Fast Lane Review

Reviewed by Laura Fairbairn

I am one of those people who find it very easy to put weight on but very difficult to lose it. I have tried many diets but find most of them very difficult to stick to over a long period of time, usually because I get bored, hungry or lose motivation due to lack of results.

When I heard about ‘2 Weeks In The Super Fast Lane’ I was curious but, if I’m honest, I wasn’t convinced I would have much success if I tried it because other diets have not produced particularly successful results. This being said, I still found the prospect of trying something new very exciting and I decided to approach the diet with a ‘you’ll never know if you don’t give it a go’ attitude.

As well as being someone who has tried many diets, I am a very keen cook and I love trying new recipes and making improvements on old ones so I am always on the lookout for a new recipe book! This particular book was a wonderful surprise to me because it is written with an equal balance of recipes, dietary information and personal comments from the author which makes for a very interesting read.

The book begins with an introduction from Fiona Kirk that explains her experience as well as her likes and dislikes in terms of diet and exercise; this is an excellent way to start the book as it instantly puts you at ease and shows that the diet is not something to be intimidated by.

What follows is a series of chapters each addressing a different challenge, theory or myth about dieting including how to know when you are ready to embrace a new diet, how to really address time constraints in the kitchen and what to do when you are feeling tired or need a sugar fix. One suggestion from this book that many would-be-diets may be surprised at is the inclusion of chocolate in your daily menu J

Some of the suggestions in the book were not new to me as I have heard versions of them before from a variety of places, however, Fiona Kirk brings them all together in such a way that everything makes sense. The addition of many methods that she has researched and developed herself really makes the ‘2 Weeks In The Super Fast Lane’ diet seem easy to adhere to and when I finished reading the book I had far more clarity on where I have been going wrong and how I could successfully work around my own dietary failings.

I love the selection of recipes in the book and the suggested way of using them is excellent. The recipes are easy to follow and full of lovely flavours that help to keep you interested in your diet. The book is so clear and gives such good explanations that if there is a particular ingredient you don’t like you can easily adapt the recipe to suit your own taste without feeling like you’ve ‘cheated’.

The book is very interesting to read and is easy to dip in and out of when you want to refer back to specific points. I was pleased with the results of following this diet and will definitely be continuing with it!

I would happily give the book 5 out of 5 and have no problem recommending it to others!
